Hello everyone. I am new and here are my fig trees. I just got these from Bass. Check out my blog if you're interested in reading my experience. Surely will buy from Bass again.

Heh, your RdB looks very similar to mine. I had a good buying experience from Bass as well. He's a very nice guy.

Hi Ch3rri,
the ronde and dark portuguese you received from Bass from my experience should grow very well for you as they did in my zone.
I read your blog in the past and you have very nice looking tropical plants.

Patty:-))))))))))) Finally! Finally I get to sit down and see this. Oh how I wish I was able to use my computer at work. I saw your post on my cell and couldn't pull it up. So I rushed home and sat my Mac down on my lap, just to see what surprise you had for me. What a wonderful birthday gift:-) You know me and my LOVE for Jades along with Citrus. And not only that, but to see such a most beautiful quaint area to be at peace with ones self is just amazing Patty! Boy, do you know how to set up a nice area. I LOVE those pots, those plants, chairs, sunlight, pool, that container citrus, the palms, the whole thing. I feel like I could almost walk through the screen and sit there. I can almost hear the birds singing in the morning with all that color surrounding you. You are so sweet to do this for me. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and the beauty you add to this forum. Thank you so much. I needed a smile before I retired and you did a darn good job at that. Why my new fig tree has fruit already & old one does not?

Nurseries tend to be better at keeping the plants happy (its their full-time job after all) and so your new plant was very happy there so is showing its happiness in delayed fashion - those figs were set as the tree went dormant. I had some trees do that and then not produce another fig for several years. There is also a large variety difference. In my main planting my youngest fig is now setting the biggest breba crop I have ever seen. Scott

S. Crolina fig tree?

No, Not much but what I learn from my research is that S. Carolina lemon fig is same as the Italian honey fig. It's very hardy, suposely very good tasting and highly productive. I think I will like my new fig tree very much.

I have succeeded in brining another person into our crazy fig community. You are doing a great job with them so far. Thanks for sharing the pictures here and on your blog as well.
I'm sure you will get some figs this year.

Yes, it was all you guys...showing all those delicious figs. I just couldn't resist. My ronde and brooklyn dark is breaking their dormancy. Should I prune the ronde so it will branch out?

I concur. Bass has some wonderful trees. I purchased serval from him last year and they grew very fast. Nice looking trees. Dennis

You can pinch the tip of you wish, it will start branching out from the top.

Thanks Sal. I did read almost all the posts on here....lol. There are just too many varieties but I can only have so many since I'm limited to space. I think if I have extra money I would wanted more....lol.

Smith is one of the best tasting figs down here in south La. zone 9 where it originated. I have not seen any reports on its performance in a more northern climate.
