morning glory and moon flower disappointment :(
Comments (18)Actually, I grew moonflower 3 years ago. My memory tells me it bloomed around September but it only had 3 blooms. And as far as location is concerned, it was in east side. It grew about 10 feet but skinny. My new moonflower now is very healthy but haven't seen any blooms. We will find out. For morning glory, it's my first time planting it. It's very healthy too but no flowers yet. I'm sure my neighbors are wondering why everyday I'm looking at the same vine. LOL! :D...See MoreMoonflower & Morning Glories...Pretty Flowers or Noxious Weeds??
Comments (9)I have both, the moonflowers aren't too bad but i've found morning glory seedling all over my yard. But it isn't a big deal. I actually dig up the earth around them and transplant them somewhere else they might look good. This year I even found two in my container, carrot garden. How they got there I have no idea. But they are bothso pretty it is worth planting. You will know the morning glory seedling when you see it. Just pluck it up and transplant or break it up and throw it down....See MoreLet's talk about bindweed
Comments (13)it's always a good idea to check with neighbors before doing something that affects you both... but 'do you mind if I rip out the little white flowering vine on the fence' is one thing, and 'I was hoping to replace the vegitation on the fence with something that won't strangle small children' is another ;) I know that MY poor old mom couldn't tell the difference between bindweed and monrning glories unless shown 'color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was' the english ivy isn't much better- it's one of the more obnoxious plants on the planet, since all it seems to support are starlings and rats! I would flame-weed the whole thing, rototill a nice strip on either side of the fence, use PREEN or corn gluten meal to stop the weed seeds from starting back up, and then plant something viny and ornamental- hops, or bouganvilla, or passion flower- or heck, all three ;)...See MoreMorning Glory and Moon Flower leaves turning red
Comments (2)Yes, it happens. It resembles what I have seen on leaves after the intense sun happens and burns the leaves....See Morelisa33
