Dreaming about landscaping my outdoor space......
Living in Northern California, we have the "gift" of outdoor living. With that, comes the dream of landscaping our property. I love to garden and constantly think (ok, obsess) about what we can do to improve our outdoor space.....
I already have a small court yard with flagstone, and would love to incorporate simple, wooden lounge chairs. One of our challenges with flagstone has been keeping it "clean" and remembering to seel it each season. Although expensive to purchase and install, flagstone has a wonderful and elegant look and feel.
How romantic is this? Seriously, I ask you... wouldn't you just love to sip a glass of Napa Merlot and eat Italian food in this setting? (I would!)
Have friends come over for dinner, and they will be talking about your "magical" dining room or court yard for years!
Light: brought to you by candles and the sparkle of the moon.
Stunning. Elegant. Sophisticated. Romantic.
It is all about setting the right mood....

Flowers, flowers and more flowers! One of the benefits of living in Northern California is the ability to grow plants, flowers and succulents all year long.
A stunning way to spruce up your patio or backyard is planting vines and flowers with lots of color. Over time, the vines will mature and flowers will blossom! Trumpet vines, bougainvillea and potato vines are essential for color!

Wouldn't it be dreamy to have an outdoor fireplace with a stone chimney? Who wouldn't want to be out there, cooking up a feast?
And then someday... the hot tub will be added. Although it is not the "water view" I ultimately dream of, a hot tub will certainly make the family happy! Or at least, my husband!
That is the dream....
But alas, that will have to wait for a different time and space. Instead, I live in the San Francisco, bay area. Here, land is sparse and "that" view is not an option. Instead, I am left with a courtyard that has a ton of potential, and a shoebox back yard. It is fun to think up what can eventually be done with a small space and a limited budget.
Until the economy comes back, I dream!
