Many people are having great succes with the baggie method.
Many others are having dismal results.
MANY, many, many, threads were written about this subject.
I think that it may also have to do about 'how green' one's thumbs are!
If it fails, stick to what previously worked for you.
The pre-histhoric sure way to propagate figs, was to
simply stick some dormant fig-twigs in the dirt;
e.g., in the backyard around early spring.

I tried the baggie method. Every cutting turned spongy and rotted on the inside.

I stuck other cuttings in some really good potting soil. I use two liter bottle cut in half. The soil goes in, I wet it really good, fluff it up, and stick the cuttings. Then I put the top back on the bottle by forcing it over the bottom half. Then I sat it on the rack in the basement and forgot about it. 3 weeks later, I had roots on two different kinds of fig cuttings.

I use this method for roses and other shrubs too. Seems to work for me. So that's what I use.

I use medium vermiculite. Dip the cutting in root hormone and place in a 6 inch pot full of vermiculite. line the pot with a newspaper first to keep the vermiculite from leaking out. Water the cutting and then do not water again, for awhile. Best to keep them dry, til the first true leaves show. Ideal temps from 77-86 and full sunlight. Overwatering is the major cause of failure cause they are eager to rot.
Rootone does have some fungicide in it.
