Good Lord, having another seniors moment...

I meant to post over here in Discussions, and ended up posting in Conversations. O.k. so while I'm here, does anyone know the name of the Campanula that grows quite tall 4 or 5', comes in pale blue and also in white. I'm also looking for pinks with lots of fragrance, can anyone help me out with some names? Thanks,

I grow 'Pink Chimes' and 'Canterbury Bells White'. None of mine are fragrant :-(

thank you SusanC....may I ask, tho... is there another very close to that but without the 'red'?.... she didn't mention that as part of the description and I'm pretty sure that's something she wouldn't have missed.... and I don't see red in the stems of the leaves in the pics, but that could just be my eyes.....!!!.... if you're sure, tho, I'll shaddap and just offer my thanks!!.....

The green is amazing, isn't it. You're basically converted once you see that color. Now that it's really green it should start leaping across the soil in all directions. The sandy soil will eventually turn black with organic matter. You can get your soil to absorb water better with a soaker hose. Leave it on a very low trickle for a week at a time, then move it only 18 inches away (or to the edge of the wet spot it leaves) for a week. Do the entire lawn this way and return to the beginning. When you have done the entire lawn three times, you should have a much improved soil. What this does is provide just enough moisture to grow beneficial soil fungi without smothering them with too much water. Remember the water coming out at the faucet should be a trickle, not a stream. This is v-e-r-y slow watering.

daisychain when I'm in a thread, at the top above the title in the OP it says GardenWeb Topics / Home Decorating Conversations. When I'm on the main page of the forum is where it says Home Decorating & Design Conversations. Olychick it's not the word Discussions that I'm questioning but Design - that's what I think was added. It makes the Discussion and the Conversation sides both have the possibility of being nicknamed DD which is what the regulars on Houzz call their Design Dilemma board. As I said, maybe I'm just pushing a conspiracy theory here and it's all about nothing. When I start talking to you about visits from extraterrestrials, call the men in little white coats, please. roarah - then I'm not nuts!

'Discussion' are for discussing basically anything garden related.

'Conversations' is for talking off topic stuff with wonderful cottage people.

Edna, the one I'm looking for is not Canterbury Bells, the one I'm looking for has loads of smaller flowers, I've only seen it once it could even be a little taller than 5'. It is one of the Campanulas, just don't know which one.

I think I've found the name, Campanula pyramidalis, Apparently it can grow 6' or more, I've only seen it once when on a garden tour, it really made a statement. I looked it up and apparently a short lived perennial or biennial. Does anyone grow this Campanula?

I looked it up, I've heard of Steeple Bells, but never grown it. I would if I could, it is only hardy to zone 8 & since it doesn't flower til the 2nd year, would be useless for me to try. Looks beautiful though, but sounds like you will have to make sure it has good drainage.

Yes it's really beautiful, when I saw this Campanula there were two big clumps, I have never seen it for sale so I guess I will have to find seed somewhere. When I mentioned Pinks I should of said Dianthus, still looking for the names of some nicely scented varieties of these guys. So many of them don't have a fragrance.

I used to grow campanula pyramidalis and it was purple and 6-7 feet tall. Stunning! I should have brought some when I moved, but space was limited and I haven't seen it for sale since. It was in a sheltered corner, but otherwise would need to be staked. Bloomed for months and everyone drooled over it.

Here is a wonderful website that shows different campanulas, so you can identify your own or find some new ones to buy.

aftermidnight - I have a large clump that grows around the base of my New Dawn. They get around 3-4 feet tall, maybe taller. It's a really pretty blue one. I also have a mounding type blue one. I will save seeds. It's getting ready to bloom now. It's also next to some fluorescent orange lilies. The colors look great next to each other!
