I am going out now to see if we sustained any wind damage. We didn't get a tornado, but the wind was a might fierce for a few minutes as the super cell passed by us. Only a little hail and it was very, very small. Hit the ground and melted immediately. We lost power and it was out for about three hours. I cannot describe the utter silence. Not a sound from nature or man of any kind. Eerie silence for hours. No wind - nothing. We lit our candles and sat eating supper by candle light. :) DH finally called the Electric Co-op on his cell to let them know that our area's power was a total black out, and as he was talking to them, the power came back on. That was kind of funny. We both chuckled and he said, "Well....uh, never mind! The power just came on! Sorry to have bothered you. Thank you." They are a very good company. Always very fast at repairs and extremely courteous too.

Anyway, I can't see any damage out the windows - not any leaves laying about the yard. Once again, this ridge seemed to protect us. It skipped by us and started up again east of here and went on towards Tulsa in a northeasterly pattern.

The National Weather Center issued a Tornado Warning for our area, which mean take cover immediately. I got things ready in the basement. Was waiting for DH to make it home from work up in Catoosa, north of Tulsa, about 2 hours away. Just before the storm came over last night, I went out on the front porch, looking up at the clouds to see if I could spot any circulation or funnel clouds, when I heard the sirens going off down the ridge in town. I could barely hear them, but I did. Then Mother called to tell me they were sounding them and that they were going to the neighbor's cellar.

There were Tornadoes all over the state again, but this time they were going in three different directions! Two or more separate storm systems were moving through the state and the fear was that they would merge. Sheesh!

We don't get Tulsa TV channels down here, so have no idea how they fared, but on the radio I could hear they were getting hit pretty hard last night.

Anyway, I hope all you other Okies are alright today. Please post and let us know that you're okay.

I'm so glad that you were entirely missed by the horrible storms last night, Annie. I had heard that the weather was very bad down there. And of course I worried for you guys. I hope Pam can check in soon. It's worrisome not to hear from her yet today.

It sure is worrisome. There were a lot of power outages so maybe that is why she hasn't been on here yet. It could have blown her Modem from lightening strikes, too. I guess lots of reasons, but I am still so concerned. It's not like her. I keep coming on here to check for her to post.
I just found out a bit ago that one tornado touched down about 14 miles southwest of here in Carney where my nephew, my sister's step-son lives, and then traveled up highway 177 and hit Four Corners, three miles west of Tryon, then went back up into the clouds and bounced over us and touched down again on the other side of our ridge about 8 or so miles east of here near highway 18 somewhere. Probably near Agra. That little bitty town gets it almost every time. That seems to be the pattern for all tornadoes. They go one way or another around us. So far, this seems to be THE PLACE in Okie to live! However, this is the closest it has ever come to this town and its surrounding area to my knowledge. I don't take chances, regardless.

I haven't watched the news today to see and hear about all the damage. It could be days before they know how many tornadoes actually touched down and what all the damage was statewide as a result, and then injuries and casualties, too, if any. I hope none.

Hopefully she's just busy today. I know she cares for her grandson a few days a week. Maybe y'all should exchange phone numbers. A quick call could answer a lot of questions.

Hey sis! I was watching my grandson all day yesterday and am just now getting on the computer!

The big tornado was in my county about 20 miles away. It stayed sunny here so we sat on the porch watching the clouds rotate.

Thank goodness I can stay calm during a storm now since we put in a cellar after the May 3rd tornado!

Oh thank God you are okay!

Pam I am so happy that you are fine. Twenty miles isn't very far away in the scheme of things. It's sort of crazy how people on these forums become like family when you hang out with them all the time. I hope you and Annie can keep track of each other in times of trouble. Stay safe! We are in for a week of storms starting tomorrow. Tornadoes come through here all the time too. I should be used to it by now but I'm not. I lived in Omaha when we got hit with the "big one" in 1975. It was ugly! Several of my friends lost their homes.

Memo, you're right in tornado alley too! This is day two of sunshine and no storms. The flowers are loving it!

Not much sunshine here. Lots of big rain clouds all day and now it is overcast with them. The wind is really whipping the trees about out there right now. Glad for the wind or else the humidity would be unbearable.

I thought it we were supposed have clear skies and be dry and hot for three days. What is this stuff?!

I gotta go out and finish mowing before it rains...again.
I trimmed with the Weedeater yesterday. That makes things look so much better.

I cannot get much done in the way of planting because with all the rain, the weeds are growing like gangbusters! I have to dig out the weeds and Bermuda grass before I can plant anything, but then I am too tired to plant. The next day, it is the same. I get maybe a plant or two in the ground. Bummer!

The areas furthest away from the house are REALLY weedy and have tall rye grasses that have gone to seed already. Gad zooks! Two days ago, I Pulled weeds and grasses out of the center of the circular garden, then raked up and hauled up to the burn pile. I was exhausted after that. That is pitiful. I used to work hard in the gardens from dawn to dark. Now I am only good for a little area here or there, then I have to hobble inside and rest or sit on the lawn chair in the shade and rest a spell.
I hate that. We Baby Boomers are not taking getting older very well. It really sucks rotten eggs!

I trimmed a few shrubs yesterday and deadhead all the irises. It was looking mighty shabby. At least that much is done. Count your blessings, huh?
