my last flower pics of the season

I have a rebloom scape of Gary Colby that will bloom in a couple of weeks, and if it blooms well I will put up a pic. These pics will be the last I post this spring.

This is a sib to my "mud" seedling. Finally got a clear color from this cross (Ed Brown x Lavender Heartthrob). It is a silver lavender with a 1/4" silver edge to the eye and silver wire on the yellow edge. Pic does not show the metalic silver.

Thank you granite, for posting my pictures for me. I wasn't sure how to do that. THANKS! :) Thank you all again, for the super nice comments on the garden and my children. mid_tn_mama, as a mommy, it always so wonderful to watch your family work together, play together, and learn together! I love your "friendly competitions" idea, I will have to remember that. Thank you. And yeah, we are expanding a little more. We are going to grow blackberries along the chainlink fence, grapes over the arbor, a bed full of strawberries, a box of potatoes, and trellis some "icebox size" watermelons and cantaloupe, 2 dwarf blueberris in a long pot, raspberry bushes in the landscape along the wooden fence, and more tomatoes in pots. Also, we plan on planting a few fruit trees in our backyard, were just undecided on which kind. Bonnie, yes we did put the beds together and set the boxs in first, then laid fine gravel and pavers around them, to help support the boxes. So, the boxes go down quite a few inches. Jim, my kids and some neighborhood children are so excited and looking forward to gardening this year. I was so tickled last year at what fun the kids had with the garden. We have lots of kids in the neighborhood, and the children loved coming over and help water, watch the things grow, find bugs and catch the bad ones, learn about pollination, and eat! There were so many kids who had never been introduced to many of the veggi's we grew, so it was satisfying to let these children discover and enjoy fresh vegetables. Plus, we had the little ones over to cook/bake, we made mini loafs of zucchuni bread (which they shared with their parents), and chocolate cupcakes with zucchuni! They really enjoyed that! :) And Shot... My husband would love his own baseball team! But, I think eight is enough for us. *wink* hee hee hee... THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!! Gardening is Great! Thanks for the bump saj ;) The last flower opened last week and now is gone too, I'm very glad though with this little plant I got 4 flowers just the first year, and one after another too, so it lasted a whole 2 months and a half! Look forward to what it will bring next year! I have a question for a pachy pro... I've been keeping a P.saundersii that is growing beautifully, and have germinated multiple P.lamerei... however, in trying to germinate P.geayi and P.rosulatum, I'm having the worst time! I've tried miracle grow cactus mix 50/50 with perlite, and a vermiculite/perlite 50/50 mix. Both with zero germination. They're surface sown, under fluorescents, at 70F. They keep developing fungus, but seriously NONE of my others have, and I am raising multiple succulents, adeniums, and deinostigma in the same setup. Any advice? I want to find out what I'm doing wrong. I hate killing seeds. Thanks, Jennie

Thanks for commenting, everyone! The forum has been so slow, I wasn't sure anyone was even checking in. I haven't posted many pictures this year, but had to post this one. Yes Brad, it does feel really good when one of my own seedlings is the last to bloom. Actually, I had several seedlings I am going to keep an eye on next year, because they were among the last to bloom. They were newer seedlings though, & could be because I moved them last year into my "watching" bed. This particular one has been in place for several years. I'm going to have to look into getting Belle Isle Sentry & maleny Debutante if they bloom this late. The first full year I had Beautiful Edgings, it rebloomed & stayed in bloom til frost took the last blooms. It has rebloomed since that year, but never as well as that. Jean, it has been a really bad year here for rebloom, I haven't gotten rebloom even on some of my dependable ones. I really thought it would be better with all the rain we had, but maybe as Brad said, not enough sun. I was very disappointed.

Wade, your photography is endearing in itself. Why are you going to stop? Did someone offend you? If that was the case, most of us would have stopped at one time or another. So what's up? Don't tell me your bloom season is over already. I'm just beginning to see scapes everywhere, no bloom yet. Bob

Hi Bob. No, I have no reason other than I have little left to offer. I posted pics because I thought it might be helpful. I tried to be fair to the flower and give them consideration for their potential. I did not post pics of flowers that did not bloom well due to immaturity of the plant. Some were not mature but they were still really nice.

I also finally got to the point where I think my pics are good enough to post. It only took me 15 years to learn how!

Bob, my new seedlings are all done, and most cultivars have bloomed. There are a few that haven't, but they are new. I did want to post up a really good Gary Colby because I consider it to be among my very best. It is new for this year. It was thripped and too immature to post a pic. I am not fond of pics that show a poor flower.

Heck no! Being offended is my hobby!

Hi Wade,
Your pictures are so good. I hate to hear that you're stopping for the season. Please post your interesting ones, even if they aren't your best. I think we all learn from each others pictures. I have never heard of or seen Pink Lemonade Party until today and today I will add it to my list of really wants.

I've had Front Porch Swing on my list since last fall. I never managed to get a high bid on it. After seeing your picture it will remain on my list. It has some of the same traits that one of my seedlings has and I could see some really good things coming from the two of them. I've already posted a picture of this seedling, but I got a second bloom today and will post another of it.

Thanks for all your pictures and I sure hope you will continue to post more as the summer goes on.

I really appreciate the compliments. I will post a few more if I have something worth showing. I don't take pics of things that are old and I am not hybridizing with. I'm just glad that you like them and they turned out nice.
