My A. pavia scorches and has 'early' leaf drop. My A. parviflora looks great all summer and finishes off with great yellow fall color. Both are in partial shade and have received very occasional watering in extremely dry summers. The leaves on the Bottlebrush Buckeye go a bit droopy when it's really dry. I can never tell if the Red Buckeye is dry or not....the leaves look great right up until mid-August when they start to scorch and fall off...regardless if it gets supplement water or not.

Ginger is very nice, but I like the native ones better. The evergreen gingers have been moved to the genus hexastylis (like hexastylis shuttleworthii, very nice one) and the deciduous ones remain in the asarum genus (like asarum canadense). Information on the web has not always been updated for this change. That's a beautiful specimen, Ginger (is that a coincidence it is your name too and we were just talking about gingers?). A cluster of the small native iris like iris cristata or iris verna would also be nice. People always exclaim over the miniature size.
