Why did you choose your GW name?
Comments (85)I usually use a combination of mine and my husband's names. At other forums I am jdkline but I wanted to change it to a shortened version of my name here. d is the first letter of my first name and kline is my last name. 2008 is the year I joined gardenweb. I am a moderator at 2 other swap sites and thought I could fly under the radar here but I didnt change my name enough to do that. Every now and then one of the members will private message me and say....I saw you at garden web. LOL I love the people here and at the other site. Both sites are awesome. But I come here for my garden junk inspiration and to be with people who think of junk as gold as I do. This forum is so inspiring to me. I come and post for a while then I get busy and dont post for a while but I ALWAYS lurk at least. LOL The talent here is awesome and the people are very nice. I really admire any place I can go on the web that has such talent and harmony. Everyone here is so wonderful and caring and I think that's what makes it special for me. Calamity.........what a wonderful accomplishment!! I know your very proud of yourself. Deb...See MoreWhat's your GW name mean?
Comments (59)Well, mine is not garden related. "Sister" became a nickname when I started playing rugby on my sister's rugby team after college. A woman named Donna on the team couldn't remember anyone's name, so I became "Sister" and it really stuck. A few years later, at a wedding, someone was telling Donna about a really nice lawyer she'd met -- when Donna asked who it was, the woman replied "I can't remember her name, but I know it was Sister's sister!" To this day, if I call anyone from my old team, I have to use my nickname, as no one would know my first name. The "k" in sister_k is for my first name, which is Kristin....See MoreFor gwTamara: Old Garden Rose Photos from Members
Comments (21)KS, I love my duplex; it is in its first year. My shots of it are blooms down low; I can tell yours is "up high" - how large is it, if you don't mind my asking? I was so amazed at the sweet fragrance of the buds. I am really enjoying seeing everyone's shots. Windeaux, frankly, I am staying out of the brouhaha because I don't really care what the rose is. I wish they'd get some of those free-use pics of Redoute's drawings and use those. I hate this to turn into some kind of a competition; I just like to see the fruit of everyone's gardens. But that's just me, I'm sure and others think differently. And, Windeaux, I've only heard Tamara say kind things about you. Comments (10)Not everyone knows their zone or even understands what it means. Say there was a poster from Saudi Arabia, for example, or China. If they would just put roughly their region into their name it might helpful. Marie: if people included their zone and/or their city/region in their name as it shows up upon posting, especially when they posted a question about a IDing a shrub, then it would be a lot easier to ID it without having to ask a lot of followup questions...which may or may never get answered by the original poster (OP). So, it would save me, the ID'er and the OP time. So it is critical information for certain questions or posts, but not all. I dont' want to have to click on their name to try to find more information -- which may or may not be there. Also, I see you have a (6) by your name -- assume that is zone? A zone number by itself is somewhat helpful, but a cold desert zone 6 is completely different than a Mid-Atlantic zone 6, so there is still some ambiguity in that. A region of a state would be a helpful addition, for example...SW Ohio or Eastern Colorado Plains....See MoreLady_Pennywort
