School's out and fast photos for Friday

Hooray! School's out for-ev-er! Not really forever, but for a few weeks. Plus I have to go back to my building on Tuesday to finish closing up my room, the teacher's book room and our Reading Clinic. But now I will have more time to enjoy the daylilies. Usually they don't start much until after my summer break begins. Here are some pictures I snapped before and after school yesterday (right before I fell asleep for 15.5 hours.)

You have an astonishly-beautiful selection today. As always, your photos are a treat for the eyes. I always look forward to your posts and hurray that school is out!
Now you can spend more time enjoying your garden and we all can enjoy more of your posts. I laughed when you said you slept 15.5 hours because my daughter Tiffany just slept 19.5 hours straight and I had to keep checking up on her, thinking she had gone into a coma or something. She is almost finished with school and set to graduate soon
so the testing lately, plus working a job, has taken a toll on her.
My favorites (and really, they all are)...would be Forsyth Frostbound, Robes for the Queen and Queen of Narnia. But they are all contenders. Someday I have to get Forsyth Frostbound. It's so pretty.

By all means, catch up on that sleep--you will need it when you begin to photograph all those daylilies you have coming on. This will be my last message to you until I return, but thanks for all the eye candy today. I'm going with Forysth Frostbound, Always Applique, and Winter Treasure which I really love. Avedon

Well, things are happening rather quickly today. A friend of mine from the garden club contacted a local tv station about the garden. Steve Stohler of WFAA Channel 8 called me and we did an interview in front of the garden today. My head feels like it is just swimming! I hadn't planned on this so soon, but it happened. He said it should be included in the 5 pm news today. So, if you are within the DFW viewing area, you will see me - either I will look like a fool or I will be getting a message across - which is my intention (not the fool part) - but to make people aware of this situation. I know the chief information officer with the school also answered some questions and stated the schools opinion (bees, rodents and size of the plants blocking a small percentage of the view of the front door) and I know he told the reporter that there really isn't a story here since the garden isn't going to be taken out until later this fall. But my point was that it would be a disservice to the students to remove the garden from its current location. And, while they were interviewing a couple of the environmental club students, a hummingbird swooped in to visit the flowers. I don't know if they got a good shot, but they did try. Anyway, I'm really nervous about this whole tv thing. Ain't no going back now.

No I am not at all upset with you and I have not even said he was a beast, and yes I have admitted this is childish without question. Unfortunately we got along great for the most part of the first 17 years so I do believe I know how to treat someone when I am in a relationship as he had a breif affair when we were married almost 6 years and we survived it and came out stronger. I do not feel that he deserves respect when he is disrespecting me. In life what goes around comes around, I would never normally behave in this way but I am truly hurt by all this and I guess lashing out without it causing a big scene. My sister in law is furious with his actions and can't believe the fact that I haven't freaked. I am unaware of your marital status but have re-read your first post and don't know too many hubby's who would say ok honey let's go to the computer, when they are hiding stuff. For instance my hubby had a conversation during his lunch on facebook with his (fake..my acct.)ex-fiance while texting lovey dovey crap to my cell. I have no problem letting him go if that is what he wants but why play both sides of the coin. I do plan on telling him again cause he obvisiously doesn't get it that I am fine with this. I have held so much in through this time that I have made many wrong decisions. I truly believed when he bought me my SUV in March that he did want this marriage and I would have wholeheartedly gave it my all but it only took 2 weeks for me to see that he wanted to be single at least on his facebook. Please do not think for a minute that I do not love this man...as I truly do but I can not continue with this hurt and therefore I need to be gone. Am I going about it properly no but I do have the right to treat him as I have been treated...I know 2 wrongs don't make a right.

you are not whiney, you had a big scare on top of all the huge changes you have been thru! stop and take stock of all of the good things your surgery has brought, this is a bump in the long road, albeit a scarey unpredictable one at that but you are ok now. my friend who had the surgery a few yrs ago has had a few bumps in her journey but would not change a thing, she is much happier and healthier. have you looked int a support group in your area? my friend had to go to a group every week for the first yr as part of her surgery follow-up and still gets together w/ them once a month. BTW how is your son doing??? i hope he loves college! congrats on the weight loss and quitting bp meds! i hope you take it easy and rest! ~ liz

Ahhh..I can't thank you enough- those that said leave the armorie alone. Yippy - paint can down.. I have been so exhausted lately. Today I overslept and my child was late too school. You all are so right ..I would just drop and I did. Funny when people come in and see the change. They have to touch everything. Check out my cabinets and such. Okay for questions- towel rack- kirklands Drapes- home depot Paint color- marscapone And now To still finish the dag on bead board. Okay maybe next week. It's just 3/4 pieces laying their under the curtains. Lmao... I walk past them and just keep walking past them. Lol Thanks again everyone for the love and Nancy thank you so much for reminding me to leave it all alone now.....wink wink Huggles Oh wait a minute - someone mentioned- love it all except for the light over the table. Chandleier arrives soon... Or should I say iam picking it out soon.

I'm glad you will have a break for a few weeks to enjoy your daylilies.

You have several that really appeal to me today. Let's see, from bottom to top: Chartered Course, such a pretty greenish edge and throat, Forsyth Frostbound, I like the bicolor and the name and the midribs, Cosmic Odyssey, love the colors and the edge.

Celeste - I'm sure your daughter needed all that sleep. The body knows when it's exhausted. Forsyth Frostbound has very pretty blooms, but I never get many buds on it. It did multiply very well last year, so at least I have a lot of scapes to flower.

Christine - Chartered Course is a wonderful pink. Unfortunation my burning bushes grew way to tall and wide this year and are robbing CC of light and nutrients. It has hardly any buds at all this time. I will need to move it and several others farther out away from bushes this fall.

Rita - This is the best color and edge I've ever had on Queen of Narnia. Apparently it took a while for this one to settle in and show off.

Kay - Robes for the Queen is looking good now, but the first few blooms opened without any teeth. That's never happened before. Now I know those choppers are temperature dependent.

Shive, you are out early, like our Florida teachers. Where do you teach? I retired in July after teaching about 37 years. I adore Queen of Narnia, does she last into the evening so you can see her at night? The rest are fabulous too, hard to pick. I've never seen teeth like on Roses of the Queen, very cute. Forsythe Frostbound is the stand out. I wonder if it would like Florida/, I love winter treasure too, but they are all fabulous. Enjoy, enjoy your summer and these gorgeous daylilies.

Queen of Narnia is my favorite, but that's probably because I'm appreciating the whites and near-whites more each year.

Ohhhhh, to be out of school!!! I have two weeks yet!! and it has been so darn hot, and we don't have air conditioning in any of the buildings. It was 90 on Friday, even to hot to go outside for recess!!!Can you imagine that!! The kids had to lay under the shade trees to get cooled off. But I do love every single one of your daylilies. Queen of Narnia is a great white one. Hope you can spend more time in your gardens now!!!

Such beautiful pictures, but my very favorite is Robes for the Queen. Just love that color with the edge. I have the same problem with burning bushes. I have 2 daylilies & a couple of bearded iris that need to be moved. Last year I trimmed the shrubs back a lot, they are as big as ever, & I think the roots are probably taking water & nutrients from th daylilies.

oh my gosh, They are all beauties,my favorite one is robes for the queen, BUT. THEY ARE ALL SO BEAUTIFULQUEES OF NARNIA is so pretty,and I love AZTEC HEADDRESS. gosh thats pretty.

Missy - I'm a reading specialist at a K-4 public school in Nashville, TN. This is really kind of late for school to be out. The last day used to be by the third week of May. But our district has gradually tried to extend the school year. For the first time ever, teachers here will go back the last week of July, instead of five or six days into August.

It's hard to pick a favorite when they are all so lovely. I'll pick three this time to tie for first place: Queen of Narnia, Robes for the Queen and Winter Treasure.

(My Crazy Ivan is doing the same thing - short scapes. Last year it was awesome, this year not much to look at.)
