Very first flower I've seen on Forty Second Street. It bloomed last year, but I was out of town & missed every one.

Bill Norris looks extra good this year. I really need to move it where it will have more room, but I hate to mess with such a happy plant

Ending with a lily, I think it was called Tiny Sensation. Dwarf lilies didn't do well because of frost, this one has 1 single big flower.

You have got some real beauties! I had bought Bill Norris, but he succumbed to the dreaded crown rot.

I really like him. I really like Little Red Wagon.

Rita, you know how I love the big flowers with eyes, and this one really fits the bill! I was expecting it to be a bit more yellow than the almost white color, but I see the clump shot at Slightly Diff Nursery it does look more white. I like it either way, such a nice bloom. I'm appreciating more & more the ones that start the season perfectly, rather than some that put out some nasty looking 1st blooms. Possibly my thrip problem, but this one wasn't bothered. Karen, Debra & Casey, I was in the rich red with edge phase a couple of years ago, I'm sure glad I got Sultry Summer. I really like it too. Are you sure you are maxed out, Linda, these are all really gorgeous! This is the 1st year for Shutterbug, I'm expecting even better next year. As I mentioned, my only complaint is that it is VERY short, I'm talking 12" at most. I only have 1 scape right now, I'm sure future scapes will be better. Sultry Summer is on its 2nd year here, received it as 1 fan, still just 1 fan, but a nice one with lots of buds. 2nd year too for Gift From Heaven & it is great! Really multiplied & blooming like mad.

Nice bright yellows, my favorite is Black Eyed Stella. I always get it confused with my Black Eyed Susan daylily which had its first bloom here today. Like your Vernal Tutone too, & those wonderful lilies!

Rita, Primal Scream has really multiplied this year so I'm expecting a lot of blooms. I picked up some something to spray for thrips, I think it has helped. I've just sprayed the buds themselves though because I didn't want to kill any good critters. Still, I can see that newer buds are looking better, so blooms should improve. Maybe cicadas are doing some damage here, I hear them & see one occasionally, but not like I had expected from all the talk. Jason, I imagine My Melinda will do great for you. I have several clumps of it around the garden & need to divide again, it multiplies really fast. I really like Hillbilly Heart, it hasn't been blooming but 2 or 3 days, but each day it has had 4 or 5 blooms. I've always love the dark eyes on a dark red daylily like Velvet Eyes too, so striking I think. Kay, bloom is really picking up, just the last couple of days really. thanks everyone for your comments! Nancy

I really like the eye on Instant Celebration, & Flamenco Christmas looks like a wonderful red one. You had a photo of Lotus Position a couple of days ago, I always enjoy mine, such a big, tall flower. Mine has finished blooming now, but I was outside earlier between rains & saw some rebloom scapes on it!

The daylilies are nice, especially Bill Norris, but that dwarf lily really heats things up a notch. Where did you get it may I ask?......Maryl

That is a shame about Bill Norris, Kay. I've lost an occasional daylily to crown rot, one year I lost quite a few. Bill seems to have been immune so far.
Avedon, Lil' Red Wagon is really a bloom machine
Maryl, the lily was just a clearance pot last year at Lowes. I really like these newer Sensation & graffiti series of lilies. I saw some recently there, not sure if they were just Tiny Sensation or Tiny Orange Sensation now that I think of it though. I tend to pick up any lilies I can.

Isaac is a beautiful simple one. I love the clear greenish yellow with the green throat. Also, what is that lovely silvery light blue (tradescantia?)hiding behind Lace Cookies? Very pretty color.

They are all lovely but Bill Norris is such a vivid attention getter. Gets my vote for favorite today. Your speckled lily is a cutie. My lilies are all budded up but not ready to bloom yet. Too early for them anyway.

I'm loving those yellows today, maybe because it's a beautiful sunny day outside. Lace Cookies and Bill Norris are my favorites of the bunch.

Christine, one thing I like about Isaac is that the blooms fade & drop off nicely, not turning into a slushy mess like some. I'm quite fond of that daylily. That is a tradescantia behind it, Bilberry Ice.
Sarah, I'm not big on yellows really, but I love the yellow shading of Isaac. Bill Norris just blooms & reblooms, what's not to love about that :)
Caribbean Eye Spy hasn't multiplied a lot for me so I don't have lots of scapes, but it rebloomed last year quite late in the season. Hoping it continues to do that.
I like my lilies, Rita, you know that :) I'm wondering if the flower is extra huge because it put all its energy into just that one bud, or if it is normally that big. Guess I should look it up & see if they tell. For a dwarf lily, the bloom is as wide as the plant is tall.
Thanks Celeste! It has been a sunny day, hasn't it. I was just getting ready to go outside & do some yard work, but it has clouded up & started to rain. DARN :)
Debra, I am always moving plants around, but hate to move the ones that are really doing well where they are. I also hesitate to move one that may not be doing well, thinking if I move it I might set it back even more. I'm much to indecisive.

Bill Norris is one I ordered several years ago and after about a month, she told me hers had bitten the dust. She sent a sub which I really like but isn't even similiar to BN. It was and is " America The Beautiful" I like the lily too!! To bad you didn't get to see the others bloom...Ellie

I love your picture of BILL NORRIS. It is one of those timeless, classic daylilies that will always be a favorite. Too bad I gave mine away when we moved. I need to get another one. LACE COOKIES is very pretty. Don't worry about that spent bloom.

Bill N rebloomed so much for me last year. I have it by my front sidewalk & he has really outgrown the spot. I like to have one that blooms well there though, & he just seems to get better & better.
