jupiterplants and Michelle - I'm bringing lots of mulberry cuttings. Don't worry, enough for everyone. The cutting I got at the last swap was too big for my pot, so I broke it in two and rooted both of them, and then had a left over green branch and stuck it in a glass of water and it not only rooted but flowered and fruited in my kitchen windowsill. No idea who polinated it, but my kitchen gets kind of wild. Fruits couldn't survive in the windowsill, but I've got plenty of cuttings and as far as I can tell, the smallest piece of this will root. See y'all tomorrow. I'll be a little late because I've got a two-hour drive. But I'll be there, with a salsa I just made with tomatoes from the yard.

Great Treefrog, would you like a chump of my tomatoe stake plant (bamboo)? :-) It is really usefull around here.... I would love the papaya. If you still have any red sugar apple left I would like one. (This are self polynating right?, I already have one regular one growing, have not had fruit yet). What else can I bring for you? Veronika Tony, are those self polynating variety? I would not mind having 2 varieties growing. I may have a avocado seedling. It self started under our avocado tree, it is about 2ft now. Our tree is the large fruit with smooth skin, very very tasty!!! I will look at it more closely tomorrow and see if it can be dug up. I think there is a misunderstanding here. Like other living creatures, plants respire and thus use oxygen. But plants also make oxygen and remove pollutants. This beneficial effect of plant life makes it possible for us to live on this earth! It is true that they don't make oxygen in the absence of sunlight and that they continue to respire (use tiny amounts of oxygen) at night. But so does your wife or husband or dog or cat. And I am sure that they use much much less than these. If it were bad to sleep in a room with a large plant (weighing, say, five pound), how much worse it would be to share a bedroom with a large person (weighing a hundred pounds) or several -- and domitories -- forget it! The real problem about sharing living quarters, as I see it, is that plants like much higher humidity and cooler nights than most people are comfortable with. There can be a danger of funguses that enjoy these dank conditions. However, the problem can be allieviated by using a small fan to circulate the air, cracking the window, and making sure there is lots of healthy, cleansing sunshine during the day. I personally cannot sleep in a stuffy room and most houseplants prefer the air to be moving at all times. I think the benefits of living with plants, outdoors and in, far outweigh any theoretical drawbacks. By the way, some plants are reputed to give off oxygen at night as well as during the day -- namely, snake plant, bromileads, and orchids. Came upon this old post and hoping that Junglegal sees it. Yesterday I purchased a Ylang Ylang tree from Jene's. $45 for a baby approx. 2' tall. Very healthy. I've done a bit of research and want to be absolutely sure where I want my new baby to be planted. Can you give me a vague idea where you've noticed mature Ylang ylangs in Pinellas Co. Junglegal?
