Pseudotsuga menziesii root nicked

madlyn88

in the process of sinking a large rock under our 100'+ Pseudotsuga menziesii, I nicked the skin off a 2" diameter root in a couple of places. This tree is pretty tough and survived a retaining wall built around it, 22 yrs ago, at about 15' out from the trunk. These nicks are about 12' from the main trunk, near the retaining wall and under a phone line where we have to trim the branches every 3 yrs or so. I moved the rock away from the root and planted a small Sequoia sempervirens 'Prostrata' in the hole, just some potting soil mulch on the top. any recommendations for care of the ouch on my Doug's root? -- Thanks ahead of time for your always helpful counsel.
