Lisa, I am zone 9, and my yellow are the best performers, but what colors do you want? My favorite are the purple. I have found that buying from Maryott's Daylilies, and going the collection route is the best deal. Last year they were about $7 each, this year they are about $14 each. They got rid of alot of plants last year, and did not offer this year. I noticed that their prices went up this year a few dollars per plant if you buy individually. I did not order anything this year, because I want to get rid of the rust, before, I buy new plants. Let me know what color and I will post my best performers, which are my favorites. I am in zone 9 coastal. My daylily bed is 112 ft around, my husband made it for me for Mothers Day 3 years ago.

Hi Lisa and honeybunny2, I am in coastal 9 also. I think it's 9b, but not certain. I'm in south Brevard County. What daylilies perform well for you, honeybunny2? (And which ones have had rust)? You mentioned yellows. In my front yard I am planting some Betty Warren Woods, Carribean Perfection Plus, Lemonade Days, and one more whose name is escaping me. I got great prices from Gene Wynn who I found out about from this forum. He is in the eastern Panhandle. That is one big daylily bed you have, honeybunny2! I have never measured mine. It would be a nice size, except a portion of it is not usable, because there is a large Magnolia Tree in the bed. So a good portion is not "diggable" at all. We start to dig and have to stop due to huge roots. Many of the smaller roots we can cut, but some we just can't cut or go through.. I can make the bed bigger in time if I need to, though.

I am also coastal 9A on Amelia Island, north of Jacksonville.

I had daylilies put in my front garden when we built our house last year. It's been fun trying to identify what I have!

BREATHLESS BEAUTY is a reddish orange day lily that has bloomed profusely! I have about 6 of them and they have been blooming for about a month now.

HAPPY RETURNS is a small, clear yellow that is also doing real well.

I have lots of STELLA D' ORO.

My fave is CRANBERRY BABY. It is a small red. They are also producing lots of blooms.

I put in COOL JAZZ and BEST KEPT SECRET last fall. They are beautiful but not really prolific as they are young plants.

I think they are all rebloomers. Breathless Beauty is still going as is Happy Returns & Cranberry Baby. Stellas are about done. Best Kept Secret has several more buds.

Keeping them well hydrated seems to really help the bud production. One Breathless Beauty is just on the edge of the irrigation system and it didn't produce near as much as the well watered plants.

I'm coastal too, just south of Daytona. My daylily collection is large and it focuses on Florida hybridizers. With no exceptions, these daylilies have to rebloom. I have had all of these cultivars for more than 3 years. With these criteria, here are some wonderful plants (more than 5 for sure):

ALL ABOUT EVE (Eureka price $17). Peach pink double with rose watermark.

CARIBBEAN AMANDA COLLINS (Eureka price $7). Purple with darker eye. Branched like a tree!

FRENCH TWIST (Eureka price $36). Cascading 13.5" red spider that blooms and blooms

LAUGHING SKIES (Eureka price $30) Big 13" lavender spider that looks like it is laughing!

LEMONBERRY TRUFFLE (Eureka price #24). 7" double that is intense lemon yellow with a green cast to it

MIDNIGHT RAIDER (Eureka price $10) Dark purple self with green throat, reblooms 4-5 times each season. Grows like a weed.

SANFORD EYECATCHER (Eureka price $10) Pale yellow double with a dark red eye. Blooms are 3.75" wide.

SPRING FORMAL (Eureka price $45) Pale pink with rouge eye. 20" tall, gold edged ruffles on top of ruffles, and blooms forever!

WEST COAST BLUES (Eureka price $11) Lavender purple with blue violet eye. Stunning! Bloom is 4" wide.

beachlily - could you post any pics of West Coast Blues? Mine has a scape and it will be interesting to see its first bloom and compare it to yours...

Hi Honeybunny2, I love a bright and multiply colour if probably, red, yellow, cherry pink, also purple... ooh... they all look amazing! Missylin, so far my DL blooming everday and can't wait to hv more different colour of DL in my bed flower. Wish rush will keep away from my yard ^_^,

Fairy, if you search for West Coast Blues on Tinkers, the second picture looks exactly like my WCB. I don't post pictures because I don't have web storage for them. Guess I'm more interested in growing and pleasing my self with my pictures. Sorry.

I would say my very favorite performer of all the daylilies is a yellow one named Hidden Riches, it just is the best grower, and the flower is just beautiful a dark yellow. My favorite colored daylily is Spacecoast Sharks tooth, not a bad performer, but the flower is just beautiful. There are just so many, that it is hard to just pick 5. I will look when I go down next week and try and pick 5 and list them. We do not live at the coast, where I have my daylilies, so I will check next weekend when we go down and post, my favorite 5 for you. Barbra,

If so that is gorgeous! You mentioned Eureka, I was confused as those sites don't have pictures, and seem to be different names at the top. Liek there are different growers but all Eureka. Can you explain that to me. (Unless there is another Eureka you are talking about.

Eureka is a daylily reference guide. It has pictures, but also has prices from those companies that advertise in it. The Eureka Guide is used as a reference guide to price daylilies. Not all daylilies are in the Guide, only those that are sold by people who sell daylilies and choose to advertise in it.

About the color of SPRING FORMAL. Mine doesn't have that lavender tinge. If you go to Ebay I have SPRING FORMAL listed as a buy it now. The picture I used is from my garden this week. Two days later, the color was ribbon pink, but it didn't have as many ruffles so I didn't use that picture. It is a trooper--blooms, blooms, blooms!

Oh, I misunderstood what you meant by Eureka, Beachlily. whne I type in the name of a daylily in google, sometimes nurseries come up with the word Eureka above their name. These nurseries have no pictures on their websites. I don't know if it's related to the guide. What do I type in ebay to see your section? Thanks, Beachlily.

Missy, those nurseries are the ones that advertise in Eureka--that's why you see that above their name.

This is the first time I've put any daylily on Ebay. Just search for SPRING FORMAL. I don't have a "section". Its the only one I'm selling.

Hey, Lisa...just getting the daylily 'bug' here, too...my favorite one seems to be the one that is blooming on that day!! This week I had Abundant Ruffles and Showtime Frills. Both of these came from the section of The Blooming Auction that is listed as 'fixed price, $10 or under' and "buy now" ...they're mostly, if not all, from Blueridge Daylilies in North Carolina. (I select from this section because I don't have unlimited money for flowers!! ..and it's a very large selection.) The fans were HUGE when I got them last year.....they were in pots under my oak tree all last summer and the winter....just went into the ground this spring and already producing beautifully. Make a note of the things you're looking for - my list is for Evergreen, repeat bloomer, and I prefer fragrance. Hopefully, I'll have another order going out this week for maybe 4 to 6 more.

I was make a wish list from Blueridge and Maryott's, all of them should evergreen and re bloomer and 'll be 'plus' with fragrance, but the list was too much...!
Need more times to make it a short list before order them, it really hard.. fiuh...!

Lisa, if you can wait a year or two, Maryott's will have another collection sale, they just about gave them away last year, but it was over in about 6 weeks. Save your money, they are rust free. . This year was very expensive, I agree. Wait until next year, I am. I have been spraying with a new spray called plant wash. I will post the results.
