Happy Today?
Comments (10)Pauline, you are SO sweet! Thank you very much... I have saved it and will pull it up "whilst" studying for my Exam on the plane for motivation! I know MAT loves hearing of new topics that he might not have encountered, and my agenda today gave me a chuckle with how some of the topics sound, so I made a list I found funny... Wake up, brush teeth, shower. Kiss and feed doggedties and kittoes and check the garden with a couple. Grab a coffee drink and check work e-mail and the forums. Use the encryption modulus: 14423118116103878456275736627220315029625755387443832298910751006678535354074654 042928147183738663805778840499199825925881487774161275939083 and the encrypting exponent: 65537 to encrypt a three-letter English word that names an animal. Use the Russian Peasant algorithm to calculate 849 x 3217. Reproduce all the lines of the calculation in the answer. Crank up Pink Floyd on the car stereo and head to Panera's with BeeBee and the laptop. Order lunch and a latte. Construct a Moore recogniser to process strings of zeros and ones. The recogniser should recognise those strings that have exactly three ones in them and reject all other strings. Write a URM program which adds the contents of register 3 to the contents of register 4 and places this sum in register zero. The program should not change what is already in registers 3 and 4. Close up laptop and head back to the garden. Film more of the neighbor's kids' Sonic the Hedgehog movie in B&W on the cell phone :) etc, etc. Oy I'm such a nerd but I love this stuff! Gotta run. Happy Day everyone!...See Morebulbs for in front of wall in front of roses
Comments (23)Thank you all again for all of the ideas! It always amazes me how different plants act in different gardens, even in theoretically similar climates. Randomly, Spanish bluebells love my garden, but make large tall clumps which are too big for what I am contemplating. I have planted nerines several times before, and they disappeared quite promptly never to be seen again (except one which miraculously re-appeared 10 years later). Naked ladies, on the other hand, love it here and have naturalized in vacant lots all around here. I have original pink ones (which from the old pics have been in my garden forever), and also some larger white ones and darker pink ones that I planted - they are happy here. They are just setting seed, so I will go on line and find out how to grow them from seed - that will be fun. I have ordered leucojum, lots of the shorter warm climate narcissus, Dutch iris, some sort of allium which looks natural and theoretically grows in the shade, some sort of short lily called ixiolirion tartaricum, and with the naked ladies that will be enough for now. I will plant some of them in the sunny side some in the shady side, and some in both just to see what happens. Cyclamen does grow well here, but I think it is too short, and frankly, I do not really like it (don't know why). Muscovyduckling - I am so jealous that you just found daphne odora alba "at the local hardware shop"! I went to our local nursery, which is independent, and the oldest nursery in California ( the 4th generation of the same family owns it). They said they could not even order it for me! I could not find it on line either. One place had it, but could not ship to CA. Anyway, I got the normal one with pink flowers but varigated foliage, and it is happy in its new planter which my DH built for it, so it would be in a "raised bed" and would thus have the great drainage they need. This forum is wonderful - when I posted basically this same question on the bulb forum, I got no responses at all until the third day, and then someone responded, I think just to be polite, but with no suggestions. Comments (16)Ooooops! It took me two years to get up the nerve to order from them, and mine is in that same shipment. Not knowing when they would arrive, I had them shipped to my school (sorry, I repeat myself). Every time my classrooom intercom sounded, I thought "This could be it", but it wasn't. You see, the office always notifies me when a package arrives. Then, I can send a student (who has completed his/her assignment) to the office to retrieve the package for me. It's such a thrill to see these students get excited and all those hands going up, saying "Pick ME, Pick ME!" Hee! Hee! I am hoping that this will happen the first part of next week....See MoreA Wish Came True Today!
Comments (7)I can't really see the difference, MissSherry, but thanks for posting that pic! Sandy, this butterfly did appear to be somewhat "tipsy". It may have been nectaring on the fruit feeder for awhile before I found it. It was in the same vicinity. The feeder hangs practically right above the "watering hole" and the thing kept getting so close to the water as it "stumbled" around, I thought it was going to fall in. I was watching it closely in case that happened so I could rescue it. I'll check the Wild Cherry leaves to see if she(?) left any eggs. I have just one Tiger Swallowtail left, but it is probably 3rd or 4th instar by now. It has developed those big beautiful eyes and is pretty good sized. Such a fascinating caterpillar! We have had so much rain and cloudy weather - the sun did not make an appearance at all yesterday - I was surprised to see any butterflies out at all. But the QMs, RAs, and HEs were out on the feeder, so I guess no sun does not deter them much. Thanks everybody! Susan...See Moreschoolhouse_gw
