You might as well go ahead and add your pendulous spruce into that bed and then add a fifth conifer ;-). Nice looking Pinus cembra 'Pygmaea', BTW.

I thought a stand alone focal point conifer would make a statement between the two beds so that's why it was left out.

She is worse the I am. I don't get dinner anymore when she gets home from work. It's to the yard to mull over things and plan for the next exercise in conifer gardening. I suppose she will keep working till there is not a square inch to plant anything more. You know me...I don't mine planting them. I figure in 5 years I will run out of room. Maybe before ...if I can't slow her down.

Your plants...there are 3 of them growing in this area...can you spot them? They will be moved when they start putting on some size. All the rest are doing fine.

On 6-7-08 I was lucky enough to visit Dave's garden and see it in-person. Let me tell everyone, the pictures do not do this garden justice. Dave's garden is incredible! I have hopes that some day my garden may be even 1% (one percent) as nice as Dave's garden.

Dave has an incredible eye for design and so many cool plants that you go running from plant to plant to plant as you go through the garden. Dave's use of rock compliments each of his plants and sets the plants off to their best advantage.

I took almost 200 photographs while I was touring Dave's garden on Saturday afternoon, 6-7-08.

That 'Pygmaea' is the perfect choice. It's already got some age and won't overcrowd the other two anytime soon. Good call.

Not too criticize, you have to work with what you have... but doesn't that section of the yard get a lot of shade? Maybe a half day of shade will keep some of the trees from growing out of bounds.
