Dwarf Alberta Spruce......damn it, a heatwave

I planted a large expensive Dwarf Alberta Spruce and took care to ensure that it had enough light near the front door of my house which is North facing. I created a bed for it away from the front path so that it would get enough light - and damn it, we have had a heat-wave and despite watering I just noticed that the south-west side of the tree where it gets intense afternoon sun is singed brown. The new growth has the new needles singed brown.....

I have put up a sacking screen - but I guess its too late? The tree is basically done I suppose? I dont think with conifers you get re=growth on an area like that...
