Lilacs Are Blooming Now

The fragrance is wonderful!

I have two huge bushes in the shrub border by the road.

This first was supposed to be a white, so I don't know the variety,

The next one was supposed to be Miss Kim, but it is awfully big so I don't really know. It is a lighter shade of lavender

and the one between the well house and an outbuilding. It doesn't get as much sun and is a darker shade,

This last one is a new lilac planted only two years ago.

It is 'Annabel', described by Martha Stewart as:

"'Annabel' produces sweet-scented double, soft-pink flowers in densely-branched spikes in spring. Its broad, heart-shaped leaves emerge bronze in spring and turn purple in fall. Hybrid x tend to be hardier and bloom earlier than the common lilac"

Mine is just two years old but has two huge trusses of very fragrant blooms. I am very happy with her!
