Building a Cottage Garden in Drought Conditions

What a wonderful, helpful site this is! I'm just starting to build my cottage garden and I wanted to invest in some hardy, drought tolerant perennials this year as a good foundation. I've looked at the list in the FAQ's and I have started with some sweet lavender, autumn selvia, and rosemary. I also found a lovely tea tree that although not typical to a cottage garden, I believe it has the right asthetic.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other perennials that would be very drought tolerant and heat resistant, but would look wonderful in a cottage garden. It gets up to 120 F here in the summer, so even when I water 3 times a day, I still have problems.

Thanks so much for any replies!!!
