Hello! I just thought I'd share a few pics of my babies and the types of things I like.....you feel free to do the same "k"! That pink watering can by the calla is VERY sentimental to me because it was my first....I'll never throw it. That calla was the first plant ever given to me by my gardening buddy. In the pic with the blue potted geranium, in back of it in the terracotta pot is a new hibiscus I just planted today. Also, the little pink geranium is being nursed into maturity right now. Some of my stuff isn't really bursting at the seams with blooms yet but they will be. As you can see the Christmas cactus by the calla had taken quite a hit but it's putting out new growth right now. The impatiens are just waking up as well as the ivy geranium in the cocoa liner. The mixed pot with the red geranium, it has LOTS of buds on it...I can't wait for them to open! LET THE GARDENING BUG WITHIN ARISE, ARISE, ARRIIIIISSSEE!!! LOL....just being silly....

Oh, that I could grow Callas like you do!
My mother could too.
I am very fond of Geraniums. I even love the way their leaves smell. If I could, I would fill my gardens with pots of them.
That is one cute watering can. It's a keeper!
I have an old metal one that was my Grampa's - it's kind of beat up looking and the top handle came off years ago, but I still use it and love it, and I can certainly dig where you are coming from about keeping yours.

Yes they do look nice. I have the theory that there is a period where the roots catch up and the top (above) grows slower, because in Aloe this happens that they 3x in size from 2-3 and seems Haws are similar, and although mesembs can flower sooner, sometimes on a year, they really get a nice full look from y3. Some of it possibly has to do with transplant as well, which may emphasize above statement more! My little theory!

Thanks everyone for such caring and thoughtful words. I realize as time passes by the hurt will go away. Frodo was just very special to me since he followed me around and was my little buddy. He was also my daughters best friend... She dragged him around like a stuffed animal and I think he enjoyed it(I am pretty sure that he would let her know if didn't like it). This was just hard for me because it all happened so fast. He had a reoccuring condition where his urinary tract would become obstructed so he could not go. He had a tough life. When he was 9 weeks old he broke his leg. We had to get a pin put in since it was broke in a spot where a splint could not be used. Then when he was about 2 he had to have surgery from his first obstruction. He was fine again for a few years. Then about 3 months ago he had to have surgery again due to another obstruction. I changed his diet to a SO-44 which is a salt heavy diet and he has been fine since yesterday when we woke up he was acting very sick. At this time I can tell the signs of him being obstructed so I was quick to recognize it this time. The veterinarian then told me that the only thing that they could do was give Frodo a sex change to keep this from happening. They also told me that it would cost about the same as a new car. I am currently paying on his last obstruction. I really didn't think he would want to be a female since he was such a manly cat. It is a shame that money had to play a part in his life or death. I am sure he is happy looking down from above now though. And I am sure he will be able to visit all of the Catmint gardens in Heaven. Thanks again everyone for your kind words. Martin, yes...most of our plants are having a bloom frenzy right now, just in time for Christmas. All are seed grown. I think they're enjoying the heat we're having right now. Currently around 33c very humid with hot northerly breezes. The northerly breeze/heat is very uncomfortable for us, it makes it feel a lot hotter than it is. :) Polina, I hope you enjoy growing from seed, its very satisfying being able to say...I grew this. The plants in all these photos are 3yrs old. With our heat and long growing season, our plants grow faster then in some climates. The yellow in the first photo and the photo below is also 3yrs old, but doesn't seem to want to grow as large as the others. I have tried putting it in a larger pot, but that didn't help. This year I just decided to let it have its own way, and so I put it in a smaller pot. I think it's having an identity crisis (shhh it thinks it's a bonsai) Lol Sometimes you just have to let them have their own way. The photo below shows the difference in size. More photos of the flowers on the bigger plant this morning.

Love your little watering can and your callas are something else. Your geraniums look very healthy too. Post more pics when things are blooming. We love pictures.

Wow, your calla looks fantastic. What color are the blooms? I've tried them in the ground but only get leaves, no blooms, sigh. Maybe container planting is the way to go. I love the Ivy Geranium in the coco planter. Ivy Geranium is one of my favorites. I have a coco planter much like yours, however, I found it dries out so fast that I had to line it with a plastic bag to get anything to live. What do you do to keep the moisture in yours?

I've got an old watering can too, mine is one of those galvanized types. Your calla looks so healthy, another failure for me and seeing your ivy geraniums makes me want to get a few. I use to grow them, but haven't in the last 10 years. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, I really wasn't expecting anyone to comment b/c I figure my stuff probably doesn't come close to what most of you are probably used to seeing....Thanks so much for the compliments!

Vikki, the calla blooms are white. I've been having it in that pot for about 4 or 5 years now! I have another one at my mom's house in the ground, which is actually the first plant I ever bought, and it's just starting to bloom right now. Funny that you should mention only getting leaves when yours is in the ground because the one in the pot didn't bloom AT ALL last year so I'm kinda praying that she shows me something this year. As for the Ivy Geranium I know what you mean about being too dry, I have to water it often and it's actually not as full as it could be. As a matter of fact, I posted a picture of it in the "Geranium" forum asking for tips to get more growth. However, she is doing good b/c she was worse off than that a few months ago. Try, too, using some of that water soluble soil maybe that'll help too.....

Becr, in the last pic that's actually my first mixed pot that I've done. Around the geranium are white begonias with a vinca vine spread out in the front. Thanx for the compliment I look forward to sharing more!
