I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Frodo Kitty. He looks like he had a very happy life and was deeply loved. Sending hugs to surround you and a poem that I hope you like.

Now I am sitting here in tears because I know the pain you are feeling. Frodo was such a young kitty :-( Seeing the face of your son?, it reminded me when I had to say a sudden good by to my Amadeus not to long ago. I totally broke down at the Vet.

I love the way you said good by to him and shared his life adventures with us.

How are you doing? Is there anything we can do besides saying a prayer. That Frodo's spirit is off to heaven and you all will find peace in knowing that he is in a wonderful place.

Tolkien, Frodo will be missed by all who knew, What a wonderful gift to be given - To cherish the life of someone so special, Someone who never talked down to you, Never could do any wrong...Kept your feet warm when it was cold...Woke you up with Purring in your ears and Nudges on your nose! Thanks everyone for such caring and thoughtful words. I realize as time passes by the hurt will go away. Frodo was just very special to me since he followed me around and was my little buddy. He was also my daughters best friend... She dragged him around like a stuffed animal and I think he enjoyed it(I am pretty sure that he would let her know if didn't like it).

This was just hard for me because it all happened so fast. He had a reoccuring condition where his urinary tract would become obstructed so he could not go. He had a tough life. When he was 9 weeks old he broke his leg. We had to get a pin put in since it was broke in a spot where a splint could not be used. Then when he was about 2 he had to have surgery from his first obstruction. He was fine again for a few years. Then about 3 months ago he had to have surgery again due to another obstruction. I changed his diet to a SO-44 which is a salt heavy diet and he has been fine since yesterday when we woke up he was acting very sick. At this time I can tell the signs of him being obstructed so I was quick to recognize it this time. The veterinarian then told me that the only thing that they could do was give Frodo a sex change to keep this from happening. They also told me that it would cost about the same as a new car. I am currently paying on his last obstruction. I really didn't think he would want to be a female since he was such a manly cat. It is a shame that money had to play a part in his life or death.

I am sure he is happy looking down from above now though. And I am sure he will be able to visit all of the Catmint gardens in Heaven.

David I figured it out shortly after I posted my question. Sorry. I was just crying and in pain for you so much, that all else really did not register.

I believe in your heart you KNEW that it was better for Frodo to go to heaven. The day I had to put Amadeus to rest because I could not have him suffer any longer, I fell apart. I also laid him to rest in our Garden. Which meant I had to use the tiller to dig a deep deep NEW flowerbed. Living on top of a hill with rocks and about 100 Degrees that day did not make it easier. But when I went to look for a SPECIAL plant, the owner, a Mexican Woman told me what they do when someone passes on. They do something special for the person or Pet...we all have spirits and those pets of ours they have the purest souls of all! Then they celebrate for that soul to go on to heaven. Setting the spirits free. But they will not be set free if you grief a long time for them. This really really helped me. Because I did not wanted my Amadeus to be trapped between worlds just because my pain was so much. He will ALWAYS be with me...but only the happy memories.

Your Frodo truly had chosen a hard life to live and just be happy for him that he is without pain now. I LOVE your thought on the catmint lol

When it came down to the money...we had spend a lot of money in a short time. Believe it or not I used to say I would not do that. But how could I EVER not try to safe his life???? I can not describe the looks and feelings Amadeus and I exchanged in his last moments....but we both KNEW it was the best. My God it hurts. I KNOW David!!

I believe that you did all you could for Frodo, money aside. It is the quality of life that mattered at the end.
