WANTED: ditch/tiger lillies

Please anyone out there, will gladly pay postage for "ditch" or tiger lillies you want rid of. My midwestern grandmother had big orange lillies growing all over her property and we loved them, they were great, bloomed all summer long. Some had speckles, some not. Having trouble finding them in Salt Lake Utah. Please contact Pat

Do you know if they are Hemerocallis fulva which is a daylily, or if they were Lilium lancifolium

In different parts of the country both are referred to as Ditch Lilies.
The Hemerocallis fulva is sometimes referred to as Tiger Lily.

Vic Also, please anyone that responds to this, only do so if you really want to trade. The first person I delt with on this site got me all excited to make my first trade, I sent them all my info, and tried to get theirs, and work it out......haven't heard from them again. Sure spring will be fine! I must quit complaining about the cold in Tx we are supposed to get down to upper 20's tues and wed mornings then back to the 40-50 mornings. Lol what do you think you would like to trade for and I will set them back for you. If you have extra irises I would love more of them to! If you send a wish list I may have or can get some other things also. Have a beautiful day !

Growing things in a container - like an old washtub - is NOT the same as growing things in the ground. First, you need to make sure you have excellent drainage - above all else, bulbs (including lily bulbs) require excellent drainage. That means lots of drainage holes in the base of the tub, NO gravel (this impedes rather aids drainage) and the MG moisture control potting soil would not be my first choice. Too fine a texture and holds way too much moisture. You want something with a much coarser, barkier texture. Plants grown in a container using a soil-less potting mix do not have access to normal soil nutrients - the grower must provide everything! I like to use a slow release fertilizer like Osmocote when first potting up and supplement with any kind of liquid (fish emulsion, MG, Schultz, etc) during the growing season. Don't use compost in the container. It is too heavy and too dense in texture also and will not provide sufficient nutrient value. And we are talking about Lillium lancifolium (syn. tigrinium) here, are we not, and not what are also called ditch lilies, Hemerocallis fulva?

It's always frustrating when people abandon their posts. I wonder why they bothered to write them in the first place.

It's also strange when people respond to posts without having enough information. As Sue wrote, we don't know what the OP was asking for. Neither Hemerocallis fulva or Lilium lancifolium are natives. So Plain orange and spotted what?

I'm looking for turks cap and tiger lily bulbits if anyone has any to spare. I don't have anything but hollyhocks to trade right now as I just bought my home a couple months ago. Please let me know!
