What is the mulch material you have around the daylilies?

Cindy most of my daylilies are in pots and I just take some spanish moss and put it around the edge of the pots to kind of hide them when I take a photo.

Ingrid, I am sorry you are condemning a whole class of roses based on a couple of months of experience with one specimen. The two worst roses in my yard for disease susceptibility are Mme. Berard (white with mildew) and Variegata di Bologna (mildew AND rust). Nevertheless, I will continue to grow old roses, too:-). Compared to Mme. Joseph Schwarz, CW is a rose with much bigger blooms also with a much higher petal count. It has been my experience that such roses sometimes take awhile to establish. Perhaps some patience is needed. I only asked to try to figure out whether it is the rose that is taking its time or my lack of care... Seems to be the rose. I am willing to wait a couple of years to see what it does. My YP was terrible the first year, much better the second year, and is growing very well and setting buds this year. Masha

Very lovely, Rob! Calamondins make awesome marmalade! the biggest pain in the neck is removing all the seeds, but if you can recruit assistance with that part of the task, the rest is really easy: CALAMONDIN MARMALADE Select 4 cups firm fruit, free of blemishes. Wash. Cut in halves. Remove seeds. Slice thinly or put through food chopper. Measure fruit. Place in saucepan. For each cup of fruit add 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Cook 15 minutes. May let stand overnight or cook into marmalade immediately. For marmalade measure 3 cups of stock into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add 3 cups of sugar. Stir to dissolve sugar. Cook rapidly to 220 degrees F. on a candy or jelly thermometer. Remove from heat, cool to 190 degrees F. Pour into clean jars and close with self-sealing lids. Patty S.

Pairiemoon2 - Thank you very much. I think False Solomon's Seal has more leaves then these little guys. False Lily of the Valley only have two. But they are very similar. I will post another picture of that pot latter in the season. I'm so glad you liked it. I thought it made a nice combination. The plants across from the Blue Eyed Grass are English Daisies. They are a perennial continuous bloomer. They are in bloom when the snow melts in spring and they are in bloom when the snow flies in winter. I am deadheading like crazy. Those are so very pretty. That Peppermint Delight is aptly named....it looks good enough to eat! My daylilies are just barely poking up through the ground (and this is early for them) so I have quite a while to go before I see them bloom. Til then I will enjoy yours! Thanks.

Thanks Linda. Peppermint Delight is such a happy appearing bloom so pretty! The others are lovely too, but PD just makes me smile. Thanks for sharing.

Goodness, your bloom season is off to a great start. DOYLE PIERCE is one I've always admired but I always wondered if it will do well here.
I do though have some dl seeds I grew last year with a cross of Doyle Pierce X Paul Aucoin. Hopefully I will see some bloom this year. I'd love to have some with that gorgeous bluish edge on them.
