Starting Unusual Seeds

I went to the grocery store today to stock up on cat food. Little buggers eat better that I do, sometimes. At least they don't have to cook. Being cheap, I always check the veg reject rack, as a well as look for marked down meats. Today, they had 3-12 oz. bags of fresh cranberries for $0.99!!! Yea!! I lost maybe a cup to a cup and a half of mushy berries - the rest were perfect. So, I made 7 1/2 jars(1/2 pints) of cranberry sauce, which has just finished its water bath. My question is, they have strawberry-sized seeds in them...how could I start the seeds in the mushy fruit???

Also, my asparagus fern has lovely, butter-popcorn smelling flowers, followed by red berries, with one large stone in the centre. I have not been able to slip the plant so, any idea how I can start the seeds??

Thanks, Nancy.
