Just wanted to share my pleasant surprise. I got this plant about six weeks ago from the Mexican Hat Nursery here in Riverside. It had only one pup at the time. I was going to re-pot it but have not got around to it. I was cleaning up my garden and saw all the new babies and was happy and surprised! Should I leave it as is when I re-pot, or take them off and plant them individually? If you are ever in this area, this home succulent/plant nursery is a special place to see. Harvey, the owner, is an elderly gentleman who has greenhouses full of plants. He practically gives them away. He likes you to call to insure that he is there when you want to go. He does not want to inconvience anyone. He's quite a guy and an expert to boot. I don't have the number handy but you can look it up on the internet or by looking on Facebook.

Awesome surprise! I could be wrong but those look more like seedlings than pups. I hope they are, you'll have a colony!

I hope I have the chance to check that place out sometime. I do have some family in that area...

I would definitely agree with Ryan. Those are seedlings and not pups. Most Euphorbia obesa don't produce pups. I have seen a variety/clone grown by Miles at Miles2Go called 'Whiteball Project' that does pup. When you repot, I would very carefully separate off all of them and plant individually as they will do much better. Your main plant has been grown rather hard. E. obesa will get "corky" with time and sun exposure, so a bit less direct sun will keep them more green. You may be lucky and have both male and female plants...

When I left, the attorney(?!) who was seated a couple of seats down from me was also kicked off, but the two police officers, one of which was a specialist in their crime were still sitting?! I couldn't believe it. It must've been a strategy thing. The only questions they asked related to that were: 1) do you think police automatically tell the truth?, 2) would you weigh their testimony like anyone else's?, and 3) have you had bad/good experiences with police officers? That was it. I was speechless. I knew the area of town where they commited their crime, and all that surrounded it. That was the part they wanted you to be impartial about, and there was no way I could've agreed they didn't know where they were, or be impartial at all!!! I couldn't believe it.

Well it was going ok till the plumber just left telling me that the estimate to fix our master bath shower drain was going to cost roughly $8000.00 to fix!!! They would have to dig a pit for the men to be able to tunnel under our house to find the break in the pipe then replace the pipe and drain. Refill and back fill the tunnel so that our foundation does not later collapse and fill in the pit which also required by law an engineers approval to make sure we will not have foundation problems from the tunneling. Dear God just give me some dynamite! I wanted to remodel that bathroom anyway. Seriously bad news. Wahahahhahahaaaaaaaa I don't drink but I could use a nice stiff one about now.

Thank you Sephia, I am very secure in my relationship with Tobey. We love doing things together, but now when he wants to go with the guys to do "guy stuff", then he goes. He spent a couple of weeks helping his son pick out an RV of his own. I wanted to go, but got down with a bug and really didn't want to pass it on to the grands, and I sure didn't feel like traveling a ling distance. We sent a couple weeks with them at Christmas. I went to a Tres Dias weekend in Hopkinsville Ky with a group of ladies from church. It was amazing. And there are wonderful ladies conferences that I love to attend as well. Tobey just called. He said they got down to Fort Jackson and there really wasn't much to see. Concrete walls and bunkers. They got to talking with a local, and he said the hurricane blew a lot of what was there away. So, then they came back up to NOLA and ran into tornados. He said they were crossing Lake Ponchatrain and saw a tornado off to the left, but it was going to cross the bridge behind them. Whew. They got checked into a Motel 8 for the night and were just now eating chicken wings . Tomorrow they are going to the national WWII Museum and tour the French Quarter. The RV place called and said it was ready to pick up. Now he wants to cut the trip a bit shorter, and go get the RV. I'll be happy to see him for sure. If he gets that all done, we can maybe go to Wichita for a for a few days to visit my neice. Otherwise it will be after his consult apt with his skin cancer doctor. Yep. it's all good.

So far I feel better today, just continuing sinus dripping down my throat that is driving me crazy. Yes, I am calling my doctor's office tomorrow and explain my symptoms and to see if I might have some more "physician time". How different than years gone by. While sweeping the rug in the bedroom awhile ago a very small plush cat toy - a mouse - got sucked up into the brush head and beyond! I immediately checked the sweeper bag, no mouse, tried to see into the brush head, no clog at the rollers that I can tell. There's plenty of suction through the hose still, but that mouse has to be somewhere. It's a brand new Roc canister sweeper ($$$). I hope I didn't damage it already.

Stupid question but, what is the difference between pups and seedlings? I have also found single new pups in three of my other plants, that are not the mother plants. I'm so happy! One last question, how do you tell the difference between these, whether a male and female? Happy New Year!

Pups are attached to the mother plant. Seedlings are separate/having their own roots.

The cyathia would show whether male/female. Sometimes you can have both on a Euphorbia. Look up cyathia for pix showing differences.

A pup will be attached to the mother plant, all one organism, seedling will have come from seeds and all be their own plant.

I'd agree, seedlings, not pups, if they are pups you likely have an e. Obesa hybrid, or a different ephorb all together!

You hit a luck either way!

I sure wish I had been into c&s when I got to go to riverside...

Very lucky!! I have one that I bought about 5 years ago and sadly have neglected but still surprisingly is lookin alright!! Would love to visit that nursery. I'm in south Orange County but wouldn't mind the drive ;-). There is one nice nursery here that has a large variety of cactus/succulents in San Juan Capistrano
