new pictures, as promised

Dear cottage garden friends,

As promised in an earlier post I uploaded a bunch of new pictures of early spring to the photo-gallery of my website. Many of you will know my site by now, but some of you won't. If you would like to take closer look, you're most welcome. But I have to warn you, - there are almost 1300 pictures waiting to be seen, - so take some time and don't be in a hurry!

There a several albums in different categories with lots of photographs taken throughout the year.

I hope you will enjoy and maybe get some inspiration, too.

At the moment the garden is awakening in all its glory. Winter hasn't been severe over here and milder as ever. Although it is still february, nature is already exploding over here. So many flowers already to be seen and most of the shrubs and trees are already producing their first leaves. I hope we will not get late frosts. Last year we had almost half a meter of snow at the beginning of march...

Just a few weeks from here the garden will be overwhelming again. If only I could show you that somehow, - you would be thrilled. Maybe my photographs will give an impression. Stay tuned and if you ever visit Europe, you just MUST visit my garden, too!

Oh Mike, I just had a quick peek WOW!!! I can see quite a few of my evenings are going to be taken up strolling through your garden. Once again thank you for sharing your magnificent garden with us.

Molly, I will have leaves next week of both of those plants. Here's the way that I work it: You contact me through private email (my screen name at comcast period net) -Give me your mailing address and what you want - I'll send it out to you - You reimburse me for the postage and include whatever donation you want to offer for the plant content and agree to send that to me within 1 week. Hi PV!! How's that balcony lookin'? Thanks Terrene. Those are Medusa, Thai Hot, and Black Pearl Peppers. Once full time in the sun those Black Pearl leaves will get much darker....so pretty! Unfortunately those tomatoes will not likely see a mature fruit (sigh)....I eagerly started them not paying any attention to DTM. They are Cherokee Purple and Black Plum; seeds saved from last garden. Frost comes too early here in the mountains...ugh! I started some more that are early maturing Black Cherry and Manitoba, but are just now getting true-leaves. ellenrr, I still have tons of Lavender seed if you need it :) Vera

What a delight to see your pictures. The girl's bedroom suite is just cute as can be...you have done a fabulous job there. Lucky chicks and bunnies...they are in a 5-star pet hotel...LOL. Love the green in your entry way, I have similar in my guest bungalow...that color adds great energy to a space. I collect jadite too and your hoosier cabinet looks nice painted like that. You have a wonderful decorating style and do a great job of blending vintage with kitsch. I agree...your place would make a great magazine spread. :-)

Thank you for taking a closer look!
Today I was buzy all day, potting up seedlings of different species, which have emerged throughout the garden. Scabiosa atropurpurea, different species of salvia, aucuba japonica, acanthus mollis, tanacetum, erigeron karvinscianus,etc, etc.
The weather was nice, sunny and mild. Tomorrow I will make a start to bring the soil in the vegetable garden into good shape. Maybe cut some roses, too. So much to be done...

Hello,
Today I cleaned up the ponds and saw so many frogs and toads hiding between the plants. Especially the toads were so many, more than a hundred! Every year in march they come into my ponds to multiply, but I haven't seen so many before. I hope they will succeed, because they are of great help to me in the garden. Eating quite a lot of snails all summer and keep the hosta's beautiful...

Your gardens are always so inspirational. Such attention to detail. I know you must spend lots and lots of time getting everything to look "natural". One day I hope to get back to the Netherlands in the spring time as your country is deservedly famous for all those gorgeous bulb shows. thanks

Thank so much for your feedback. These are very nice compliments! And I appreciate your interest in my garden en photography very much. In fact, some of the garden magazines over here in Holland use my pictures regularly and in Germany a book has been published to promote my garden there. So much honor, - I am astonished and try to stay humble.
At the moment nature is exploding over here. In just a few weeks time everything will be freshly green again and all of the garden will be full of flowers for months to come...
