Yes I did make that, it is a Calamity original!lol! The pc is made with wire mesh and concrete,to show off those glass stars (1/2"thick), then I mosaiced it with mirror and stained glass, gave it a brick base, then that round cobalt blue ball...It is so nice when the sun shines thru it(the stars and ball) and the rest of the time it is pretty blingy with the mirror reflections!!! The bluebird hanging up is a table top, converted to be a glass on glass. Thanks everybody. I really am just freaking out here. It looks like you are all agreeing on a reprieve. Like I mentioned before, I missed the first infection and it got to be very, very obvious, so I'm hypervigilant at the moment. I was ready to tear all these bushes out earlier tonight! I'm going to cut off all the weird candelabras (except on Pink Pet) and watch. Spider Mites are possible--they are always a problem here. I can usually see a brown speck or two in the flower when I have thrips. I haven't tried the paper test, but will tomorrow. A few RMV questions--this is the first sign on this rose at year 5 of growth. I was under the impression that RMV was either there from the start, or not--in other words not contagious. Wouldn't this mean I bought it with RMV? Should I contact the vendor? I bought all my Belinda's Dream shrubs at once, so will the others be likely to have it eventually? Finally, is RMV systemic, meaning that pruning off the affected canes will do no good? I am really, really grateful for all of you tonight. I can't say how depressed I was earlier. Thank you!

Be very careful what Kordes roses you buy Straw! I was on a Kordes website and they have a rating system on that site... Up to 4 star can be given for BS resistance... BUT some of there roses they only gave them 2-3 stars for BS resistance... Rose of Hope was rated a 3 so not sure if I will try it or not? Plum Perfect is rated a 4 but from doing research winter hardiness is in serious question and it seems to do best in hotter locations... We do not know name of my wifes flower... To my eye, blooms on 'Mme de Sevigne' and 'Mme Isaac Pereire' are very similar. The plants differ somewhat in that the former is more lanky than the latter. 'Souvenir de Victor Landeau' arrived as a band in Spring 2012, and lived in a 2gal container until being planted in August 2013. The first blooms came in May 2013 -- a year after arriving. What I find about this rose is that it wants to put forth stout growth the first year, then blooms on that the second year. After blooming, those stout canes tend to lean from their own weight, encouraging stout laterals, which will often bloom their first year if they start growing early enough in the season. By the following year, those leaning canes make fewer blooms themselves, but continue on via the stout laterals which sprung from them. The rose will show you which canes are "bloomed out" -- they sort of start looking "deflated" or "shrunken". If there are stout laterals coming from them, I snip the canes back to the strongest lateral, which takes on the role of the "main cane" again. And as with the original main cane, it will start to lean from its own weight, causing more laterals to form, and the cycle continues. So while I rarely remove a cane from the base -- which, in any case, is several inches below the surface -- I do cut them back to the strongest new laterals emerging from them. In my garden, new basals start emerging just after the rose has leafed out, and continue for the next two months. Sometimes they terminate in blooms right away -- which makes me think they're actually sprouting from buried cane. Other times they just shoot up, and start leaning from their own weight by the end of the season. I guide them to go where I want, sometimes with the help of tree branches to hold them in place. Some of these will bloom by Autumn, others will wait until the following Spring. The end result is sort of a conveyor belt of new growth offering bloom either with the first flush, with the second flush, with the Autumn flush, or with next year's first flush. :-) ~Christopher
