Norway Spruce lowest branches growing along the ground.

The Acracona (I think it is anyway) Norway Spruce that I have has beautiful flowing branches - the lowest ones are now sweeping along the ground as they grow. I wonder whether they may be subject to rot or any other malady.

If it is indeed a problem what are recommendations - I dont want to cut the branches as they add to the beauty of the specimen. The best I can come up with is some 1"x1" wood strips along the ground underneath the branches......

As I reported previously on this forum, the leader grew about 3 feet last year. This spring thus far there has been limited leader growth but there has been growth of new candles in a uniform way all the way up that leader "stem". In other words the top of the tree now looks cylindrical and not conical. Is this a problem over the long term?
