I love freshly-fallen snow pics! They're so magical.

Our past 10 days of freezes ... 6 of them extended hard freezes ... has turned much of my foliage to mush. Not sure what I'll find under the flannel sheets in the kitchen garden tomorrow. Probably more of the same.

But on a brighter note ... here's one of our winter visitors ... a Rufous hummer. We have at least two more and a Buff-bellied. With temps in the teens the past few nights I've had to bring all feeders indoors at dusk and hang them back outside at dawn. With the loss of natural nectar sources they become even more critical for the birds.

Although we did have snow the week right before Christmas, the thing that best typifies what our winter has been like is the frozen birdbath. Shoot even the pond has frozen over due to it being way colder than we normally are at this time of year--colder than a well digger's knee.

I am SO EXCITED. I recently got a new computer, and can now upload pics directly from my camera (my other had fits and seizures when I tried to do that, lol). I am just starting to get the pics on PB, but as soon as I do I am posting so more things in the gallery!

Last year we had a record amount of snow, this year hardly any. I think the news said that it was 80 in last year while it was only 10 this.

Anyway, here is a pic of the front Sycamore tree during a little flurry. The snow melted by the next day.

Here's my little cottage garden all buried under the snowdrifts! It's a brand new garden as of last fall. I cannot wait until spring to see what it looks like in bloom, and to go get the rest of my plants from my old garden! Thankfully, the person who bought our house does not want any of the plants, and told me I could come back in the spring and get the rest of them.
