Hey Mike, Congratulations! It must be Jade blooming month for a lot of you(none here :o( you must be very excited! How cold does the room get at night where you keep it? All that I've ever read about getting Jades to bloom here is SUN and COLD(not freezing).Sounds like you have the sun part right...just curious how cold the room gets at night?

That may be Crassula ovata "Jade" v. Peek, can't be sure because it is growing in the house, and you must be doing a great job, because I have never heard of any one bringing it to flower when grown in the house. "Peek" has a few little thin white streaks in the leaves. It is quiet a rare variety. Yes they need sun to flower I also think the night time temperatures are just right, and you pruned the right time of the year, you are doing every thing just right. Between 30-50 F would be just right for flowering, there seems to be a 30 degree difference between night and day. The like the same temps. that you like to live and be comfortable. We've all been trying to figure this one out...ever since Mike was kind enough to share his cuttings.

I was reminded that you, Norma, always mention pruning Jades in early Autumn to have them blooming around Christmas. It looks as though you're right!

JoJo, we got you beat...we're in the upper 70's today and will be in the low 80's by the middle of the week...once in a while Mother nature throws a 50's or colder in there. Our coldest months is Jan and Feb, we even get a few "frost" days...could explain why my Jade has never bloomed! But I am not giving up! Someday...

Mike, congratulations on your blooms. You have a gorgeous Jade there. Nice pictures too. I hope one day my jade (green) looks that good. It was given to me and is "laying" all over the pot - I have a lot of work ahead.

Flowering in the house, I learned something new, You did a great job, the plant is beautiful, I am so glad that you trusted me, that really means something to me. If you see any white peeking through the green please take a close up picture for me. The more you prune in Sept. the more flowers. They will only flower on new growth during this time of the year. He's been fighting a cold that went from bad to wrose.

Needless to say he's on bed rest and not here much.
