Plum Cottage blooms - picture heavy

Thought I'd post some blooms from this year. I know I've not been here in quite awhile, I got caught up in posting in my blog. I see a lot of new faces here, and wonderful gardens too.

This is a picture of my main garden taken in April. Hubby's workshop is behind the iron grating. Our cottage is to the right, not shown.

Another picture taken a few days later.

Here we have a Gulf Fritillary butterfly on Golden Dewdrop flowers. They smell like licorice.

Here is Pink Pet, one of the oldest roses in my gardens.

Dainty Bess is a sweetheart.

Dwarf Orchid blooms have a delicate scent. I grew this from seed.

Passion vine flowers. This vine grows all over with no help from me.

Here is the crepe myrtle by my shed.

Another passion vine with beautiful scented blooms. I believe this one is known as Incense.

A daylily.

Here is my Queen Crepe. I love this crepe.

Here is a picture with my hand for comparison.

A tropical orange hibiscus.

Another tropical bloomer, a bromeliad bloom.

And some whimsy, a curbside shopped carved cat, and dwarf yellow poinciana.

Pretty blooms and nice photos. The crepe myrtle is beautiful, both of them.

Thanks Schoolhouse. My gardens like all gardens are a continual work in progress. Your gardens are an inspiration to me. I've not done very much this summer as the heat and humidity were just too much to take. I'm so looking forward to cooler weather.

Thank you all for viewing the albums and your kind comments. Glad you enjoyed them. gldno ~ I always have rose envy when I see roses in other people's gardens. You can't have just one either, so it is an addiction of sorts. Edna ~ I say wow also, when I look at them in the albums. I'm amazed at what I have, and then feel thankful. Kathy ~ Oooohh is right when they are filling the air with their scents. GGG ~ They all bloom regularly it seems to me. Bon Silene, Louis Phillipe are real bloomers. The rest are in and out of bloom. I'll have to try to keep track of when they are in bloom. goldenpond ~ Do you grow any in your gardens? You are north of us here and I know they would do great there. Annette ~ I had to send away for my Dainty Bess also. Patti ~ I'm not so amazing, but the roses sure are. ;-) I am enjoying taking pictures with my new camera, well, it's a year old now. Thank you everyone for your sweet compliments. Plantmaven- The day it snowed was kind of strange, it was a fair amount above freezing with snow. The children loved it. Today on the other hand is perfect, 20c clear blue Sky and no bugs. My gardening heaven. Schoolhouse- Right now the cottage is being rented out to GI Joe and Polly Pocket but I will be sure to put your name on the waiting list. :c) Sweetannie- The neighbor who gave me the tiny irises told me that while she was on vacation she saw a house with a sea of these instead of grass. (I wish I had seen it) And the home owner gave her a clump of each colour when she stop to investigate. Such a treat! Do they multiply quickly for you? Ianna- I know you are right. But it was all the beautiful wild flowers that Mother Nature had plant here that inspired me to start gardening. And they are what keep me inspired (along with all of you of course). I love it when things pop up in unexpected places. For the most part, if they can find a home they are welcome to it. GGG- Yes they are pink and blue Forget-Me-Not (perennial) another one Mother Nature planted for me. I love them! Kay- Yes I am proud :0). I pour my heart and soul in to my family and my garden. And like anything in life, you get out, what you are willing to put in. CMK- I grew the English Daisies from seed. Actually they were the first thing I grew from seed. I just through them at the ground in early spring. And they have been coming back ever since. They bloom twelve months a year for me in my zone 5 garden. I am constantly brush the snow off of them to show people. They have done well and bloomed in every condition I have thrown at them, sun, shade, wet, dry it just doesn't seem to matter. If you are the type of gardener that likes everything in it's place you might not care for them though. They are a really good seeder. You would have to be pretty vigilant with deadheading if you did not want them to spread a bit. I would be more then happy to send you lots of seeds if you would like. A few more shots from today. June, thanks so much for your kind words. Because the cold winter still has much of my garden recovering, I kinda went away from my largely foliage theme in my garden this year and started planting color here and there and intensely in some areas. I'm finding it's a little too busy for me, as I prefer a more subtle garden. The BBG confirmed this for me. My favorite areas were the serene, sculpted areas with more foliage, less blooms. I did love the roses and flowers, of course, but was more fascinated and felt more at peace with plainer areas. Sometimes it's nice to have a change, though, and as my foliage recovers, the flowers distract the eye from them! Silvia, I'm glad the photos spurred some good memories for you. It is overwhelming, all the things there are to do and see in New York. However, I would not trade my bit of land for it all! Denise, I know when I was young the gardens would probably not have been on my short list of things to see. Yes, the roses were spectacular. So many types, so much color! I am a bottle tree person. The blue one is the first thing that caught my eye. All the pictures are so pretty. I had not seen Queen Crepe before. I thought I was looking at my own hand except for the ring.

MCR ~ I love my crepes too. We've only had the Queen about 3 years now. The pink ones are always giving me babies that I can dig up and move around the property.

soxxxx ~ I love bottle trees too. Actually, mine is a bouquet. I used some kind of bendable tubing that we had, and put them inside a 3' tall or so terra cotta drain pipe for my vase then arranged the blue blossoms. Seeing it always makes me happy. I've got another terra cotta section, and green bottles that I plan to do another arrangement with, just not sure where yet.

GP ~ We 'found' that cat curbside. He does add whimsy.

Tom ~ I'm surprised things have done as well as they have this summer, and am thankful for all of the survivors.

GGG ~ Yes, it's been horribly hot and humid. Yesterday was really bad, with dense cloud cover, and the air was thick. Couldn't stay outside long at all. I am so ready for cooler weather.

Renee ~ If you can grow the Queen crepe in your zone, then I think you would love it.

Flowerlady, I absolutely LOVE how you've created a tropical cottage garden. I wish I would have done that while I lived in Miami! Wonderful. :)

Thank you FloweryEarth. Our gardens are certainly not typical cottage gardens that is for sure. I'm looking forward to working more in the gardens now that the cooler weather will be here. This summer was really brutal and I've not done much at all except hibernate. Do you have an album of pictures or a blog on your own gardens?

I'm ready to get out on the yard too. Wednesday and Thursday are going to be my recovery days. I haven't gotten dirty in a while. I need to get busy. Lots of things to do and we're going to get some rain today.

I love you blooms. Your blog is wonderful.

Good morning Tom ~ It's not even 6:30 yet, I've just had my first sip of coffee, and here is your post. Thank you so much for your kind words.

We've been working outside too now that it's cooler. During the night we had heavy rain for possibly 20 minutes. Nice. It didn't make it any cooler though.

I know I am responding a little late here, but just had to say how enjoyable your pics are! So nice to look at in the dead of winter with all this darn snow!

I ENVY your amazing passion flower!! Do you ever get fruit from your vines?
