I am new to Citris trees also. I repoted mine in 1 gallon pots. one of mine fell over and came out of the pot and I noticed it was very pot bound. Mine were about 6 inches tall when I got them This Spring, and they have grown one and a half feet this year and put on nichel size oranges. They were fully ripe but very sour, I think as they get older they will taste better. They do want all the sun you can give them. In the Winter months there is no need for fertilizing but I would at the begining of the Spring and while they are putting on fruit.

Wow, a foot and a half in less than a year, cool. When I took the trees out of the small tiny pots they came in, they were extremely root bound but I didnt want to go crazy with a big pot for fear of stunting their growth or something. I've been reading that alot of people have had great success with perlite so I picked up some today to use at the next re-potting. I cant wait, I'm so excited

Stumps, I wish you the best of luck w/your new citrus..MI Bulb has a bad reputation, especially when it comes to citrus.
You want to place them in bright light, make sure soil dries out between waterings..
Most potting soils are either too heavy or too light..Is your soil rich, black soil, or does it contain a lot of peat?
For one I'd have mixed the soil w/other mediums..for instance, I use standard potting soil, sand, Perlite and peat. Some ppl use pieces of bark for better drainage. Citrus need well-draining soil that won't stay continuously wet.
Do you have fertilizer at hand? You can give it one dose for now, but then wait until spring or once you notice new growth on your trees..
Since your citrus aren't grafted, it'll take longer for them to fruit. I've heard up to 14 yrs..(S) So, patience is the key for sure.
Another thing that troubles me about MI Bulb is they don't specify types of citrus..or at least they didn't when I ordered from them several yrs ago. Do they name them now?
In other words, you mentioned you have a lemon..do they name the type of lemon?
So, the important things are, sun, soils, humidity, fertilizng at proper times.
Do you use a humifider in winter? Humidity and circulating air are also important. Humidity is also good for people, so investing in one is a good idea.

Ok, I live in florida and have had a Calamondin for a year. Its doing very well. First things first. Move to florida. Put the tree out side and your set. On the realistic side. Duplicate the weather down hear. Give it full sun all year long. Use a ballanced fert, I use MG tomato, its 18-18-21. In the summer go normal strength, in the winter go light. A must for these plants like stated by others, let the soil dry all the way before watering. This is a must. Water heavy in the summer, soon as the soild is dry but make sure its dry all the way. In the winter let it stay dry for a week or so, unless your showing signs of dehydration. Floridas weather is rainy march-october and dry for the rest. For soil I use 100% profile Aquatic. This is a fired clay in about 1/8-1/4'' pieces. It drains well, holds water and does not pack all at the same time. I water my tree every other day or so, when it drys out all the way. At the least, use fast draining soil that does not pack. The only thing that might differ is that I intend to bonsai my Calamondin but at this state Im growing it as a regular tree. The tree is 18" tall in a 12" clay pot. Oh, last but not least, use a clay pot. The plastic ones or glazed pots do not let the soil breath. This will promote root rot.

I have a miniture lemon tree and I would like to now when are the lemons ready to be picked? I had it outside and then it started getting cold so I brought it in. I have about 5 lemons on it and the are the normal size a lemon but they are still dark green and have been for quite a time now. If anyone has and information that might help me please let me now. thanks alot

Sandrat, I usually leave fruits on till they fall on their own..Make sure the tree is getting enough sun/light so fruit will mature. Toni

I guess I've gotten lucky with mine, I water about every other day, I used MG soil, I do have them in a greenhouse for light and they are in their first year and I got 100 nickel size oranges,(no joke) I don't give them any more care than any other plants I have. I have a lemon, orange, and Lime, and 3 others that I got from W-Mart that get 3 different citris on each plant. They have one or two fruits on each of those 3 that are about half the size they will get. I guess I'll have to watch how much I water them. I'm sure they will get larger as the plants get bigger. They are about 1 1/2 feet tall now.

John, you surely did luck out, so congrats..but eventually, down the road you may find you'll need to suppliment your soil..As time goes by, it grows old and needs nutrients. Adding fresh soil helps, as does fertilizing. Congrats again..Toni
