Ponderosa seeds wil come true to type. Most Citrus do. Even if it didn't, it will produce fruit, Could be as good as Mother Plant, Better or worse. You might even discover a new variety. I currently have 55 Varieties growing, Ponderosa being one, it hasn't fruited yet but I am waiting. I have had no problems yet with taste or variety of what has fruited. Where are you located? It is a bad idea to surround citrus with black plastic on the ground. Citrus feed through shallow feeder roots that are at soil level and black plastic kills them from spreading out. Especially in summer when it is hot you will fry the tender feeder roots for sure. You did the correct thing in pulling out that disc thing from the trunk. The trunk and the area around it should be free to prevent any trunk rot disease. If your trees look lush, then you might be feeding them too much nitrogen to promote excessive leaf growth. Please make sure that you are giving them a citrus fertilizer specially formulated for citrus. Peach and Citrus do not cross pollinate. If your trees are not blooming at all, it is not an issue of pollination as you need blooms in order to pollinate them! You will have to change over to citrus fertilizer (in the correct dosage) to promote blooms. And please do not get the citrus fertilizer spikes - they are not effective. Get the granular one.

Wow, I can't believe a tree that small can bare the size of the fruit. My tree was purchased at a local nursery at 1/2 price (end of season sale) and I have concerns. The bottom of the root ball was a blunt cut off stalk. I thought that was weird. The roots were few and it was planted in what seemed like hard clay. I tried to loosen it without damaging too many roots, so I conditioned my soil and planted it. I hope the roots will be able to grow out. Is this normally the way the rootball of this type of tree would look? I hope they weren't just trying to get rid of it.

I just harvested my lemon today because my parents were leaving for Portugal. They liked my tree soo much they wanted seeds to grow.... (They have a few lisbon lemons in their front yard already, no maintenance required cause they're only there 3 months a year, The trees pretty much grow themselves lol) Anyways, here are the pictures.I harvested the lemon a bit under ripe.... It was about 50% light yellow, 25% light green and 25% dark green. Good thing I waited a bit longer hahah... I think it didn't further develop as i'd like due to the temps being constantly 16-17C and an LED grow light of 25W (Equivalent to 80W regular light I believe.)It only weighed slightly over half a kilogram... A little disappointing but again, I don't think it was fully ripe yet. It was also a bit hard to squeeze... but I did get a bit of juice into a glass to taste...I'm going to save the lemon until next weekend to make a pie or to use in my Gins and Tonics... so I wrapped it with plastic wrap and put it in fridge. When I sliced the lemon in half, it was slightly tough to do so, I did notice a little juice come out as I cut it... Hopefully it's loaded with juice and not seeds hahaha.... I already removed 8 seeds for my parents. It appears to have another 20 seeds inside the lemon. Anyways, the initial taste of the juice was satisfactory. I drank it (About two small gulps)... It wasn't overly sour/bitter... I actually thought it would be more sour... again, maybe because it was slightly under ripe. This lemon came from a "Cutting" I bought from a random chinese store. The tree is about 18inches tall (+/- 2") I got it in early September already a good size lemon. I've had the tree inside under a light and very rarely upstairs by a sunny window since the beginning of November. The tree is in bloom right now, hopefully it holds onto a few fruitlets. Two bunches of flowers have opened, one is still medium sized buds. I am going to move the trees into a sunny window this week where it'll constantly get 20-25C temps, same lights if necessary and much more natural sunlight.
