Looks just like both of my meyer lemon trees. They have no obvious graft mark either, and the habit and bark/stem coloration is the same. Leaves look similar enough too, but I would guess it could be any lemon variety really... My small potted trees produce plenty of fruit.

Well the new growth not being tinged purple says its no lemon. Probably a lime. Leaves look to large and not thorny enough for key lime. It dosnt look like rootstock either. My guess is Bearss lime. Has it flowered yet?

Purple tinged leaflets? I don't recall the leaflets of my Meyers being tinged, but I can't say I looked all that close. I will have to pay closer attention in the spring.

That said, the branches do remind me of my limes, but as Ryan said, the leaves are much larger than my Key's.

Yeah, I just looked at my Meyer and only one branch has young leaves on it, but they're not tinged with purple. But I also noticed that the mature leaves are more pointed than my Bearss and the Meyer is much thornier. I'm going to side with Ryan.

It hasn't produced any flowers or fruit as yet. I recently fertilized it about 2 months ago after I spotted some new growth. This helped turn the leaves a darker shade of green.

I recently picked up one of the fallen leaves and rolled it between my fingers which released a lovely citrus smell. I remember thinking that it smelled slightly more like a lime than a lemon.

If it turns out to be a Kaffir lime tree then that would be a bonus as I cook a lot of Thai food :)

Certainly not Kaffir Lime - Citrus hystrix. That has distinctive double leaves, a bit like a figure eight.

yea, it has no petioles/wings at all.

Since it was sold as a lemon, I would be willing to bet a good chunk that's what it is. Certainly not enough evidence to the contrary at this point. The purple tinged theory obviously is not a reliable indicator. I've never seen it on my lemons either, and it probably has to do with differences in light levels.

If you're still really eager to ID this thing before it flowers/fruits, grab a magnifying glass and go through the citrus key at the website below. Leaf and twig morphology just might be enough to be sure of what it is.

I think it's probably a Eureka lemon tree looking at the leaves and the pattern in bark.
