Thanks all for your compliments. I meant to go back out every few minutes to get some good pics of the dragonfly nymph, but you know how it is when you get old(er). You go in the house with good intentions to come back out but you see a lamp that needs to be dusted. While you're dusting the lamp you see the bottle of Resolve you left on the end table. You put the Resolve back under the sink and take the cleanser to clean the sink. When you put the cleanser back you find the plant food you've been looking for for weeks. You mix it up and water the plants and find the scissors you have been looking for in the sunroom. You put the scissors back in the drawer where you keep the extra batteries for the camera............the camera, the dragon fly nymph, you fly out the door. There is no nymph, no dragon fly, no exoskeleton. Darn, I missed it, oh well maybe next year. I could have just sat out on the swing and waited, but it was 90º+ outside. Hi Mag123, Flying Dragon is the best rootstock for dwarf citrus trees. It will produce a tree that is about 1/2 regular size with normal sized fruit. This is for a tree planted in the ground. If you are going to grow citrus in containers you may not need to purchase trees grafted onto Flying Dragon because your trees will have limited root volume and will naturally remain small. For container soil use a mixture of 1/3 manufactured soil. For our climate I like Super Soil potting mix. Combine that with 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 pumice. If you can't find pumice use vermiculite. Don't worry about the pH. Trees planted in the ground are happy with a pH above 8. In a container yours will be much lower. If you want to reduce the pH of the water you use just add 1 tablespoon of vinegar in each gallon of water. Good luck. Here is a link that might be useful: Low Desert Citrus Varieties

Yes, keeping in a fridge salad compartment (above freezing) is the recommended method of storing citrus seed. I've always found that unopened Poncirus trifoliata fruit can be left outside in a sheltered spot over winter. Freezing, at least to around 15F, doesn't seem to do any damage. The seeds remain viable until spring even though the the fruits go partly rotten. This makes sense when you consider that, in nature, they grow in frosty places but must still be able to reproduce themselves from seed. In Florida, of course hard frosts aren't likely, so I'm sure you could just leave a pile of the whole fruits outside and extract the seeds in spring.

I screened out any chance of my seeds from smooth flat seville. My soil is very hard pan clay, It gets soggy. It is 7.8 PH. It gets really cold. With my cultivar going down to below 20F and outside temperature drops below 5F on the years of lanenia. My triple glass front GH against a heated house wall rarely needs heat. The trees are in a pit 4 feet deep and the insulated front wall rises another 2 feet. My glass rises 9 feet from the base and gives me 15 feet hight. The trees will be held to within 2 feet of the house wall being semi espalier growing. My seed grown Meiwa kumquats will be planted in front in the same pit and will be limited to no more than 7 feet. I have read that own rooted Meiwas can go down to 10F. I have 3 small standard PT that are to hard for me to graft to so they went into the ground .for a hedge to hide my neighbor's 2 junked cars she can't let go of' Steve
