Who has the real 'Pink Parfait'?

I was searching for a light pink dahlia with some cream color and found 'Pink Parfait' at Van Burgondien. But other retailers have a Pink Parfait that is a semi-cactus. Which one is the real thing? Anyone has it? The link below is the one I'd like to get.

GIven a choice between Swan Island And Van Bourgoundian I Know which one I would go with! I wonder if VB's Pink PARfait is a translation from some Name in Dutch?

For a similar dahlia you might want to try Chilson's Pride...Takes a year to get acclimated then churns out the flowers until you are on your knees asking i to stop or slow down, LOL! THey area beautiful clear pink with a center that becomes more creamy as it gets later into the fall. Eventually, by the end of October they are a soft cream color for me and still keep going until the first hard frost.

I checked out the Hannah Gordon/Nicole mess with Kordes earlier this year and published the result in the American Rose magazine. The vigorous plant with blooms that are white with deep pink to red edges and about 20 petals is Hannah Gordon. Nicole is a smaller, more compact plant with soft pink edges on its white blooms and has 30-35 petals and can have hybrid tea form. Glenda Marie is a sport of Hannah Gordon and has the same growth, but shrimp pink edges on the petals. The only U.S. company that has a license from Kordes to sell Hannah Gordon and Nicole is J&P, and they have never used it. The other companies that are selling Hannah Gordon as Nicole don't have a license to do so and have never received any plants from Kordes. They got their plants from elsewhere and guessed wrong when they called them Nicole instead of Hannah Gordon. None of them are similar to Cherry Parfait.

Oooh, I wish I could see them and smell them. I have some buds on a couple of things and of course the one that just bloomed the tag is missing but I think its adora since I know she was in that line and there was only one without a tag. Grrr. Sorry I just got your email but it looks like its working now. I was so mad that all the ones I overwintered and was waiting to see bloom for the first time are the ones that got the tops cooked so now I have to wait for Y's on a lot of them again. The ones I have already seen bloom of course were alright, lol. Hugs, Kristy

Mary, I am such a dope, lol. I remembered when you posted your pics it was in my thread asking about CP's bloom size. I found the pix, thank you again! Yes they are exactly the same. Speaking of bloom size, I went out and measured the new blooms, just like I did the first 2 that opened. The one with 6 points/tendrils is 8" wide not counting the tendrils at 1 1/4" each. The 2nd 5 pointed bloom is 6" across (not counting the tendils of the same size), and both blooms are 10" long, not counting the calyx. I was just measuring for record keeping purposes, but I think now I will try to find out, if possible, the sizes of both the real CP blooms, and the Coral Glow blooms, and compare. And yes, you are right, the seller was tctopcat. I think I will email him tomorrow and let him know.. what do you all think? I really don't think this is Coral Pink as he said. Here are some newer pix..of this..Coral Something, lol Notice the one on the left has 6 points, and the right one has 5. Normal for a brug to do that? Of course I still love it..I just wish I had the proper name with it.

Looks like a fairly effective delivery method that takes a normally sit down meal and transforms it into a walking around meal. I'm constantly placing meat of various types in pitas or in between bread slices and adding stuff and then walking away with it. This isn't all that different. Sometimes, in that pita, I place chunks of salad stuff along with the meat. Gasp! Whoever dreamt this up...I like how they think.

Right on Liza, my Chilson's was a late plant (a May planting to replace a rotted tuber) and so didn't bloom absolutely gangbusters, but was starting to pick up when October hit.
By late October its normal pink/white turned to near total white blooms. It's a lovely bloom, I agree. Hope I'm out there begging mine to stop blooming this year!

I don't understand the theory behind "it takes a year to get acclimated." We grow a couple acres of dahlias for cutflowers, and plant small tubers without any problems regarding acclimation or proliferation. We plant tubers in the field the first or second week in May, and start cutting around the third week in July. They do take a little breather late August, but continue throwing out those beautiful blooms until frost.
By the way, vanBourgondien's dahlia looks more like if falls in the lavender category. That is truly a beauty. We also grow Chilson's Pride,
another truly lovely dahlia.
What the heck. I love them all!!! What can I say? I'm hooked on dahlias......

The one from Swan Island is the correct one- classed as B C DP in the ADS classification book -- B sized (6-8" diameter bloom), Cactus flowering & DP= Dark Pink. The bloom from VanB looks to be a BB FD LtBl-- BB= 4-6" in diameter; FD= Formal Decorative form (but not a good FD form as it doesn't have very many petals) & LtBl= Light Blend (of lavender & white) in color. It would make a good cut flower but not a good show bloom.

I Am afraid I Am guilty of the phrase "It takes a year to get acclimated" That is just from personal experience. Here we leave them in the ground year round. But if we move Chilson's Pink or divide it it sulks and doesn't get going good until the very end of the season. When we leave it alone it starts pumping out the flowers early and keeps going like I mentioned. Jeanne found the same thing with the tubers I gave her last year. I suggested to her that she just dig the whole clump and replant it this year to see what it does. Could be something about our west coast weather....? I had one Chilson's in it's second year that was churning out over 100 flowers a day. SOme were so high I couldn't reach them to pick, and I am 5'9". I wonder if I spilled the osmocote bottle when I planted it? Removed a piece of it to another garden last year and what was left sulked and didn't do more then 30 flowers a day :>(
