How long did your GOOD tractors last?
Comments (51)We have owned our 1970 Gilson since 1980 when we bought it from another family member. It is still running strong. It has just over 1000 hours on the second engine (16 HP Briggs cast-iron one upright cylinder engine). I know the hours because I installed an hour meter when I put the new engine in. The previous owners ran the engine with no air filter and few oil changes. The engine still operates as new due to frequent oil changes, careful air filter maintenance, and an after-market oil filter. I use Mobil synthetic oil. The tractor operates great and mows well. It is my wife's favorite machine. In fairness, it has had a lot of maintenance over the years and our Kubota does more mowing with more reliability. We've repainted the Gilson, upgraded the mowing deck bearings, welded frame cracks one time, replaced steering parts, etc. It is a fun machine to drive....See MoreHow Long do Dahlias Bloom?
Comments (4)Hi Tulips or Bust....Wow that is early. The only one that I have that overwintered is no where near blooming. I think I actually got some from you at the Spring trade. They are up about 6 inches or so but then I planted them sort of late I guess. My experience in the past with dahlias is that they bloom most all Summer and yes I would definitely deadhead them. This should keep them reblooming....See MoreHow long do your sheets last?
Comments (21)It isn't the thread count that matters, it is the quality of the thread. If the threads are short and cheap, yes, you can get 1400 TC but they won't last. But quality cotton (Pima cotton, grown on the Pima Indian reservation where I work! Egyptian cotton is high quality too) at 400 TC is far superior to a cheap 1400 TC. There is also high quality long thread 1400 TC, but they will cost you upwards of $1000 for a quality set. Sherrmann, I have sheets for all my guest rooms, some queen some king, so we probably have 10 sets in different sizes. For our room we only have 3 that we rotate every few days, then put a fresh set on. The old ones go to the laundry room where they are done on laundry day, so we never run out of clean sheets. However, I am with you, I love the smell and feel of sheets fresh out of the dryer! I have a great linen chest that keeps the fresh smell in. For those of you looking for Percale sheets, the Linen Source link I posted above has them fairly often. Check it out....See MoreHow long did your root canal tooth last?
Comments (9)Tooth I just had removed I don't know if it was "dead" or not but he had to cut that molar in 3 sections & struggled to get them out. It had rotted under a crown yet it was still the most difficult he had done in a long time. he told his new assistant fresh graduated from dental school that he normally would send case like mine to a specialist but since I an a very long time patient he did it. The pieces looked like triangles, still trying to figure that out. Sounds like you have a good dentist Konrad, but on molar might be wise to have the crown put on because if tooth gets weak might not be able to crown it then & that means puling it & bridge or hole in mouth. You are only 62 so you want to be able to chew & enjoy food for many more years. My dead tooth was an "eye" tooth....See Morepaveggie
