Is it too early to pull trees in?

As we all know, it is now September and the days are only reaching the 70's and 60's. Nights 40's and 50's here in New England....is it still to early to pull my plants indoors or can they stay out longer? Will they adjust ok when brought indoors with the nights being so cool?

I really don't want to see my leaves falling off this time. Please let me know as soon as possible since next week it is only going to me in the 60's. Also should I leave my gardenia plants out too?

Please let me know....Please..before it is too late and that I might leave them out longer than I should. Thanks in advace!!!
