I know what would be special - a picnic tea! I quote from the book, "Tea, Recipes & Table Settings" written by Catherine Calvert:

"When the farmstands are brimming with rosy tomatoes, lush bunches of herbs, and fragrant peaches, it's the perfect time to celebrate the last days of summer. This is a hearty hamperful of foods that could make up a "high tea", an early supper, to be carried off to a grassy slope as the evening turns fresh and cool. A container of iced orange pekoe steeped with mint adds it own bracing, invigorating touch."

Menu (for four):
Honey-Glazed Chicken with Rosemary
Red Potato Salad
Vine-Ripened Tomatoes with Fresh Basil
Crusty White Peasant Bread
Old-Fashioned Peach Pie
Fresh Peaches
Minted Iced Orange Pekoe Tea

I have made the Honey-glazed Chicken with Rosemary many times to take to pot luck dinners. Everyone loves it. I use the drumsticks. I think a thermos of hot tea would be fine with me too.

I wanted to say that your Fairy Garden is lovely, I need one of those castles for my fairies that live under the apple tree in the orchard.

My chance to share a fantasy - a picnic tea in the country. I strapped the "rumble seat" picnic basket to the back of the buggy and drove down a lane until I found a grassy spot amid some blooms. Here the table is set for three with a thermos of tea, a box of sandwiches and a box of potato salad plus some big blueberry muffins.

Lavendar Lass and I are patiently awaiting Becky who is gathering a bouquet for the table. And who is that? A stow-a-way! Kitty of course!

Now this is all for Thursday Tea "show and tell", my real tea is brewing in the pot as I type and I'll be drinking it and eating a muffin on the back porch. Hope you all are having beautiful weather today, too. I had fun!

I will bring a huge bouquet of fresh country flowers, and some other homemade treats for us all to share! Then we can climb aboard for a jaunt down the lane........We'll have tea later in the orchard and share with kitty, too.

Thanks, the basket is one of my prized possessions. Got it an antique shop years and years ago for what it is now little money but for me back then it was a fortune. But when you fall in love with something, you just gotta have it. (probably didn't pay the gas bill that month!) :)

As for the buggy, it's an early 1900s piano box or doctor's buggy. I used to collect carriages, and this one didn't have its top, I restored that. Never had a horse so always borrowed the neighbor's pony. Pony has passed on long ago and so have my driving days. Friends who shared my passion for all things romantic are spread far and wide now.

So you see, a person can collect this and that, buy a cloth here a buggy there and years later you gather it up and put it all together for a half hour of pure bliss!

One thing about typing posts in a thread on GW is that while you are in the midst of it, you can't stop and go back to the original thread and jog your memory as to names,ect. I so wanted to include others in the picnic tea. I knew sweetannie would be much too busy canning her garden harvest to come with us!
