Some Early Spring Blooms
Comments (14)Gean, thank you. I also have the bush form of Dev. It does not bloom quite as much, though when it does the blooms are equally beautiful and smelly. I love bush shots as well, even though I am not all that adept at using a camera. Masha, Jaune is not even in full bloom yet. I will try to take more pictures when that happens. Thanks. Florence, I am happy I could brighten your day as you have brightened mine many a time. Organicgardendreams, I am so happy you like Dev. It is my favorite rose after Marechal Niel. When young, it exhibits some PM, but it does improve as it ages. I expect it will always get a little PM, but it is never enough to put me off. I just spritz it with water in the dryer months. Other that that, Dev is extremely healthy and I do not spray. Randy, Lady H is one of my favs, especially for the color of the foliage. In early spring, it is completely burgundy/plum with little or no green. It definitely adds some variety in the garden. I am happy you like her....See MoreEarly spring pictures (lots of pics)
Comments (5)Ok, I get what spidey is now!! Very neat and creative! Don't you love finding new ways to use things in the garden??! It will be a lot of fun for him getting to plant things around Spidey ;-) Plus I could see having a big Halloween party around it with fake cobwebs, bales of hay, and pumpkins for your nephews and nieces! Glad to hear Mandy is doing well again- and back playing with her boys! CMK...See MoreGotta post a couple of pictures...Early spring
Comments (16)that fringe tree photo helps me remember the one i had to leave behind in n.c. it was only 4 years old and in it's glory when we moved away to ca. it never leafed out until mid-june so i made sure to tell the new owners to just wait, it isn't dead, and it will be well worth the wait. i sure hope they did. i'm glad yours is thriving along with the rest of your beautiful gardens. min...See MoreSome More Early Spring Pictures
Comments (15)I'm sorry to say, plectrudis, that Souvenir de St. Anne's is gone, and it was difficult since it's such a healthy and wonderful shrub. Unfortunately, the sun even when it was in the seventies shriveled the blooms in less than a day. I probably would have kept it anyway except that I had William R. Smith to place somewhere, and I didn't want to put it back in Tea Rose Row where it died the last time. I thought I had another place but then decided it would crowd La France and hang over into a narrow walkway there. I do find the flowers of WRS infinitely more beautiful and wanted to give it the best possible chance to survive this time. The days of roses flourishing here just anywhere are gone....See MoreCher
