It sure seems as though the blooms are bigger this year than last. My MAC blooms are almost as big as my hand. It must be due to the vagaries of the weather.

Joanne, those are all gorgeous. I have a baby shrub devoniensis; I hope it approaches your climber in beauty. I love to see bush or garden shots; yours are lovely. Thanks for posting. Gean

Your Jaune Desprez is amazing!!! Devoniensis is very pretty too, the blooms seem really big.

I think you should certainly try them and see. Are the ones still growing potted? As soon as your weather warms I would water and begin fertilizing to give them a good start. It is possible they will bloom earlier since they are already growing. How tall are they? My butterfly's are normally around 4 ft when they bloom. Hope this helps a little. James Maloy

Thank you Audrey! I'd be happy to enable you in whatever way I can to get 'The Fawn', also called 'The Faun', as well as by several other names in Europe. Heirloom Roses were the original importers and had the exclusive right to propagate it for several years, but that has apparently run out as several nurseries offer it now. I got my latest two from Burlington Roses in California. As mentioned it is a low grower that spreads out two or three feet horizonally so it's great at the front edge of a bed, very good also in a raised bed, or in a pot. I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of your roses when they bloom. I wouldn't mind seeing some bush shots to get an idea of their growth habits. jbfoodie, you have some very pretty mature roses in your garden! Great shots.

My favorite is Devoniensis. Very beautiful delicate color and flower shape. Luanne was also posting very pretty photos of this rose recently. I have to check it out more. Since you are in my climate zone I would like to ask you, how is the disease resistance of this rose for you and also how is the ability to repeat? Thanks for any answers in advance!

Gean, thank you. I also have the bush form of Dev. It does not bloom quite as much, though when it does the blooms are equally beautiful and smelly. I love bush shots as well, even though I am not all that adept at using a camera.

Masha, Jaune is not even in full bloom yet. I will try to take more pictures when that happens. Thanks.

Florence, I am happy I could brighten your day as you have brightened mine many a time.

Organicgardendreams, I am so happy you like Dev. It is my favorite rose after Marechal Niel. When young, it exhibits some PM, but it does improve as it ages. I expect it will always get a little PM, but it is never enough to put me off. I just spritz it with water in the dryer months. Other that that, Dev is extremely healthy and I do not spray.

Randy, Lady H is one of my favs, especially for the color of the foliage. In early spring, it is completely burgundy/plum with little or no green. It definitely adds some variety in the garden. I am happy you like her.

Those are some beautiful pictures of some great roses Joanne.
I don't know why I don't have Devoniensis! Funny, I was just thinking yesterday that the blooms here seem to be much larger this spring than in the past.

jbfoodie, thanks for giving me additional information about Devoniensis. I think, in case of such a beautiful rose a little bit of PM is acceptable! Looking at your photos again, I have to say the flowers are just outstanding! I am really excited about this rose! It must be truly a joy to have her growing so well in your garden.

Devoniensis and Jaune Desprez, two of my favorites. I am going to start keeping that to myself. It seems as though each time I start talking about my favorite roses, either RRD hops on it or it just dies for no reason like all my Crepuscules died.

Hamp--I have spoken with a few other OGR growers in the area and they, too, feel the blooms are larger this year. You must have Devoniensis for the fragrance alone!

Organicgardendreams--do get Dev, you won't be disappointed. Just be patient. It takes a few years for it to mature and bloom its head off!

Thank you, Jackie. I really like garden structures, especially since my yard is not that big. If you cannot spread out, then spread up!

Patricia--I was so sorry to read about your plight with Crepuscule. Do not tell your garden you like Dev and Jaune. What it does not know will not hurt it.

Sammy--I just bought a found rose at the Sac Cemetery Open Garden this last weekend, but I have not room for it. I just had to have it anyway. Hopefully, something will open up.

Carol--I am lucky to live in a community surrounded by hills and to have a home that has a view!

Just beautiful. Especially your glorious Ladybanks and Jaune Desprez. It (jd) looks great the way you are training it on the trellis.
