Old Irish Birthday Blessing

May you live to be 100 years, with one extra year to repent.

We drink to your coffin. May it be built from the wood of a hundred year old oak tree that I shall plant tomorrow.

May the doctor never earn a pound out of you.

May the good Lord take a liking to you...

But not too soon!

May you die in bed at 100, shot by a jealous spouse.

OOPS!!! Sorry I didn't know that about Jan. 1 being "everybody's" birthday, if a specific date isn't given. Oh well, Happy Birthday, whenever it is. :>) Mwoods, your statement about each year bringing "joy, laughter, and some tears" is so true. None of us ever knows what's ahead for us. But, as my DH says, "It's been a trip, but I wouldn't change any of it!"

Lorna, you may have to shop yet again....I bought mine at Select Seeds, another heirloom source! They just sell ornamentals, no garden seeds. I bought 12 packets of seed! We have a fairly close heirloom seed company that I order from too, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, where I get some garden seeds but don't think I have ever bought any flower seeds from them. Wow, you did have a shopping spree! Sometimes these things are just required. We could be spending our money on such foolish things. Don't you love it when they suggest what to plant with what....that always requires another purchase...they are thinking ahead. Select Seeds does that........ I have never raised sweet woodruff and am looking for things to put with the iris. Shame on you.

Lightening struck a tree in my neighbors backyard Wed night and messed up the cable connections so I've been without the computer till today and I just saw this.

Thanks very much, GGG, Sierra, Cameron, Vikki, Ana, and Kent. The day was good, the beer was cold and frosty, and I'm looking forward to more of both. :-) My first field-sown sunflower is just starting to open today so that's a good omen for the rest of the summer, I think..
