Al's 5:1:1 mix and watering

I have a little owari satsuma that I'd like to experiment on with Al's 5:1:1 mix. All my other citrus are in large containers with a variety of different potting mixes. They seem to be doing fine, but I am concerned about the ability of the mixes to drain thoroughly.

I just got the satsuma and it's in a 1 gal container, needing potting up. I've been reading all the threads about container mixes and think the ideas are sound, but I am very concerned with the need to water so frequently. I can give my other citrus about 1 gal each per week and they do fine in my climate (heavy marine influence, marginal for citrus--I have them in my one and only "hot spot"). Once a month I put in two gallons when I feed.

Water is expensive in my community and I try to cut back where I can, using grey water for ornamentals, etc. I can't see using a couple of gallons of water per citrus every few days.

Thoughts?
