Hi Mike, that's one healthy and beautiful Calamondin tree! Don't you just love the scent from the blooms...so so pretty! Love the picture of the bee too...so cute. I like how you posted the pictures of the ingredients...so much easier for the people that are looking for it when they have something visual to go by...very helpful! I used to be able to buy the 5 lbs bags of the crushed granite (they never carried anything bigger) and now I just found out the store stopped carrying that size too **sigh** Thank goodness I have access to silica sand.

dang it Mike! Now Im gonna have to get one! LOL Great looking tree. I have wanted one for awhile now. Is that a Four Winds tree? Ive been thinking about ordering one and Its nice to see what they actually ship out.

Mike: What a beautiful and healthy plant. I am looking forward to receiving my Moro at the end of the week. What size pot did you put it in? Both of my oros are in 12" pots. They both had really long root systems...one I worked the roots into the pot and it is the one that is looking a little yellow on a couple of leaves. Could it be pot bound? The other one I trimmed the roots a little and it looks perfect. I was afraid of using too big a pot. How do you know what is the right size pot to use?

Gg24, I put them in any size pot I like, as long as it is big enough to allow ample room for root growth...This one I put into a 13 inch pot..

I use to do this with the bagged mixes, a large percentage being peat, or compost, and or other quickly decomposing matter, and all my plants would die of rot.
Then I use to put them in tight pots with those type mixes, usually up one size from what they use to be in prior, and this caused by plants to become root bound too soon, and stunt.

Now, for my trees, the bigger the better..I have many in containers several inches bigger than the root ball, and they thrive.
Many will say that it discourages flowering and fruit, and that the plant will focus on root growth, rather than top growth, but that is just not true, not in the case of many who use the type mixes I currently use now..

You know, I suppose the point is, is that if your using a mix that is very porous, and holds no, or nearly no PWT or , or stays evenly moist, from top to bottom and dries out rather quickly, it doesn't natter how much bigger than the root ball.

Sort of goes against the grain for many, I guess..

For example, I can plant a 6inch grapefruit tree in a 12 inch pot to a 30 gallon container or more.
I have a friend that uses a bagged peat mix, and will only plant his in a 4 inch pot...

I don't have any place close that has fine fir or pine bark. This summer when we were out of town we were able to find Reptile Bark at a PetsMart.

I have found a source online for fine fir bark at www.orchidmix.com I have not ordered anything yet, as I still have a bag of Reptile Bark left.

I tell you..If anyone ever finds this stuff locally, you'll be sorry if you don't buy every bag in that store!
Once you start with one or two plants in this mix, you want to buy more plants, and put every other plant in it.
Then when you go back for more, whalla. they are either all out or no longer sell it..

I can't believe I am on the forum while in the campsit here in tahoe. Super slow connection. I can't wait to get home to repot in that mix. If you can do it there I should be able to in calif. as far as weather and all don't you think? Still not sure on the screening but going shopping for the granite and turface. I already have the orchid bark fine size. Talk to you all when I get home. Hope my trees are still there.

Ugh, now I'm trying to come up with reason why I shouldn't order one of these trees. I really want something that is fragrant and this sounds like it suits the bill but I wasn't looking to buy anything new.
