Buffie Went to Take Her Vows

We dropped Buffie off at the Vet's this morning, for her surgery. When the intern came out to get her, his first words were, "Oh, don't you want some puppies from her?"

When we signed the papers, the receptionist said she would have to go back and get 'sugar' from Buffie, who is one of her favorites.

It was very quiet when we got home. Ikey crept out from his post guarding the trucks from marauding squirrels and mice to ask where she was.

She must spend the night; we'll pick her up first thing in the morning.

Feels like somethings missing doesn't it Nell, hope everything goes well for Buffie and she stays away from her stitches. With most of the girls we've had over the years no problem but our Dobie ripped her stitches out, more stitches and it ended up we had to keep a collar on her until these came out.

It's lonely when they are not around. Well wishes for Buffie. Poor Ikey must be wondering what's going on.

Trin - I know how you feel. My baby sister is 50 and they treated her for eight weeks with strong antibiotics for a fever. She was so sick. It turns out it is liver cancer. I live in NY and she in Florida. We talk a few times a week. It breaks my heart.She is still receiving chemo and is quite sick. I went down for a week and we both felt better after that. Our mom died when we were young so we are all we have. We just sat and talked by the hour about everything. I felt better myself when I got home. But it is not about me, it's all about her. Hope everyone is having a terrific Mother's Day! My boys got me some new Williams Sonoma microplanes for my kitchen. And the hubs got me what I ask for every year - several hours of "me time." Every year I ask for him to take the boys and leave the house. Checking in on this thread is such a huge boost. Thank you all for your sweet comments! It means so much to hear the applause on a project that is so personal. MareLuce, the rack consists of 1x2 sides and shelves, and 1/4" flat stock rails on the front. You can buy the flat stock in the craft wood section at Lowe's. The whole thing is pieced together with dowels at each joint. The shelves are also just ever so slightly angled, to keep the books pitched back. You can see closeups in the tutorial here. taggie, the boulangerie sign was a TJ Maxx find years ago for just a couple of dollars. As a gf household, I do a lot of baking, though not as much bread baking as the sign might indicate. It was the only thing I kept from the old kitchen. Here's a closeup of the glass in the upper cabs. It's Clear Coral from Bendheim cabinet glass. and I used Clear Soft Wave in our liquor hutch on the other side of the room, also from Bendheim. I can't say good enough things about Bendheim. They had so many options, and shipped the glass quickly and packed really well. abfabamy, I saw a version of the knife pull-out in another gwers finished kitchen. Unfortunately I don't remember who it belonged to. Their finished kitchen was posted just as we were doing demo. It was a white kitchen and the pullout was by the sink. Ours is a 3" filler piece for the front, then a drawer box made of plywood turned on it's side with 3 overtravel drawer slides. 2 probably would have been plenty, but I wanted to make sure of a really nice , smooth motion. tmy jax, hopefully your lax weekend is less eventful than mine. DS1 took a hard check to the chest, and I spent a couple hours at the hospital yesterday. No cracked ribs, just some deep chest wall bruising. He can't breathe deep and everytime he sneezes(pollen is high right now) he just about doubles over in pain. He's still hoping to play Monday against Corning. Laxers are nuts.

I promised in this post to post my vows. Again, we didn't exactly do vows. My brother-in-law started the "ceremony" be announcing that we would basically recite our thoughts and feelings. He did a wonderful job. I don't have a copy of dh's words, but you'll get the idea from mine below. We had this party as a backyard picnic sort of thing, did the "ceremony" on our deck with microphones. It turned out beautifully. Really enjoyed it. Here is what I said (names changed to protect our privacy) My dearest John, 25 years ago, we stood at the alter together and pledged our commitment to each other. I remember standing there hoping we would be right for each other and that everything would work out for us. Little did I realize what a gem of a man I was marrying. We have had a wonderful twenty-five years together. This ceremony would not be complete without the mention of our wonderful children. We were both elated at the birth of each of our children. And have continued to be very proud parents as they have each grown into wonderful human beings. And each has their special traits and personality. Dana is a beautiful young woman who has really blossomed with her education and Chinese language and cultural experience. And John has turned into a wonderful young man with the determination to learn to fly at 17. But John, you have been a wonderful man, husband and father. No woman could ask for anything more. YouÂve put up with me for all these years and I know that has not been easy. I know that I can be demanding and difficult at times, but I have always loved you. When we got married, we had nothing, except our love for each other. WeÂve both worked long and hard for everything we have today. We were only in our early 20Âs when we married and we sort of grew up together. But the most important thing we have that we have built is this marriage. WeÂve had our good times and our bad. As I write this I try to think of our good times together, but I canÂt think of any in particular, because our entire marriage has been our good times. Our next 25 years together promises to hold some unusual challenges for us both. But at this point IÂm certain we will make it through those challenges. Oh Trin, you do have a wonderfully soft heart! I'm so glad you took the little girl in--what did the vet say about your situation with Larry? Are you afraid of Larry? It almost sounds like it. Either that or you are not one to step on others' toes if you can help it. I would keep it fairly short and sweet with Larry, and chances are he won't even care. He may not be as grateful as he should be, but I don't see why he would be angry. And it sounds as if your vet is as sweet as you are, keeping the cost down. Thank you so much for taking care of sweet little Buffy!

I hope all goes well for Buffie, too. She and Ikey can spend many hours discussing their respective surgeries, now. I think Lisa warned Bart about going to the vets office long before he had surgery. It was still a surprise to him, and after that, we couldn't hardly get him in the door at the vet's office!

Hope all goes well for Buffie, I worry about 'em when they go in for anything.
Today a new kitty came knocking on our door and wants to live with us. I have to take her in tomorrow for a quickie check up (our vets is currently full for the week) to a clinic. I would imagine we'll be up for the same proceedure next week. Cats seem to leave the stitches alone though.

Good thoughts to Buffie and hope she heals soon.

Imagining the chirping of crickets at your quiet house, Nell. I wonder how Ike will react to her re-appearance tomorrow, especially since she probably won't feel like playing!

Buffie will be fine and you all will be very relieved. With her being outside these accidents can happen........look at my new cat situation.
What if she had just one litter and had 10! Like my cat who had 6!

Buffie had facial swelling this morning and they are keeping her an extra day. They aren't sure to what she had a reaction: the sutures they used, or some of the medication she was given. She's staying there and being kept quiet, according to Miss Willie. DH is anxious about her.

Nell, sending positive healing thoughts Buffie's way. She's in good hands and it's good she is staying at the clinic under supervision until things calm down. Keep us posted, we'll all be pacing the floor until Buffie comes home, we're all so fond of her and her antics, she's part of our cottage family.

Thank you, all who sent kind and healiing thoughts Buffie's way. She's home. She is eating and drinking and chasing Ikey, who was the most traumatized of us all, except for Buffie. Ikey just couldn't understand why she wasn't here and kept biting me (not a vicious skin-breaking bite), as if I could somehow return her if he reminded me enough.
