Grapefruit Tree Has Wilting Leaves & Cracking Bark?

At least I think it's a grapefruit. The people we bought the house from planted several citrus, all but the one died in a freeze and they don't know what it is that survived. Judging by the size of the leaves I'm saying grapefruit.

I have several lemons and limes doing well (but on the other side of the house).

My grapefruit is doing well, has fruit developing too!

However, suddenly a small branch or several small branches are drying up.

Do you know how a branch looks when it gets broken but doesn't break completely off the tree? It looks just like it but the branch is completely attached.

There is a break in the bark of the branch slightly below (but not as if the branch is broken~ it's an opening/crack in the bark).

I took a photo which I will have to figure out how to upload/link to.

But it shows a branch with two smaller branches off of it.

The larger branch has bark peeling/cracking off and then one branch off of that is dead, the other is fine with new growth!

I looked at the other branches and they all have the cracking. (Perhaps it's left over from a freeze this winter?)

I can't tell which came first and am unsure what I'm dealing with.

Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Kate
