chicken feed and water questions
Comments (1)I leave the layer pellets out for mine. If you are concerned about mice you can take them up at night. I crumble up the egg shells and just toss them out for the hens. Mine usually don't leave any laying around. I think that chicken scratch is what will attract the mice the most. Since that is just a treat only put out what they will eat in say 10 minutes. Fresh water is important to all livestock. I change mine at least once a day. When it's hot more often. I would have at least 2 waterers for that many birds. Good for you for researching poultry. I think you are off to a good start. Just having the birds is a learning experience. You will learn a lot of little things as you go. Like the best place to keep the feed to keep it clean, how much your birds will eat and what they like best. Good Luck!...See Moreenough calcium in the feed water?
Comments (6)Just a suggestion to fellow pepper growers. This applies to anyone planting anything in soil. If you go to your local farm extension they will give you a bag to collect a soil sample that you can send in to get sampled. Upon sampling your soil you get a report back telling you exactly what amendments are needed to make your soil prime for growing your selected crop. Soils can vary alot and problems can show the same symptoms for any number of reasons. Where I live it cost $15 well worth the cost it saves all the guess work out and is well worth the cost. Your farm extension is there to help not just farmers but anyone who needs advice. If you grow in the soil get it tested the learning experience is well worth $15 and the time and guess work is minimized.Unnecessary additives to soil can also cause setbacks and in most cases very difficult to undo . If I limed a flower bed of lime intolerant plants it would be years before they would grow there again. PS Peppers love Lime and it would be hard to overdo it....See MorePuppy People - Puppy feeding and watering question
Comments (8)When does he go to bed?? The feeding schedule sounds about right, unless you're going to bed at about 8:30. You want him to have enough time to go to the bathroom before going to sleep. Same deal with the water, take it up with enough time for him to go outside at least once before bed so he's not going to bed with a full bladder. Some dogs will vomit up yellow bile if they haven't eaten for too long, 12 hours MAY be too long for his age, although probably fine. If he does vomit bile in the morning - try bumping his last feeding up a little bit to see if that helps - or you could also move the morning feed back a bit, if it's feasible. Also if you do notice bile - you could save a small portion of his dinner, to give to him at bed time. If that's allowed. Usually they only need a little nibble to keep their tummy settled through the night....See More1/2 feed to water heater
Comments (1)You don't have to use any 3/4" pipe at all. Buy two 3/4" female iron pipe to 1/2" sweat fittings and just go with 1/2" copper pipe all the way. Your water heater will work just fine....See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
