G.excelsior, or maybe a Gasteraloe?

Thats really about all i come up with too larry, im really hoping someone here will recognize it and say. It is definatly _______. im not sure it will happen but maybe a few of you heavy duty succulent guys will help me work out what it is not... I know a bloom would really help, i cant beleive it hasnt tried, Im generally pretty good at getting my aloes and haworthias to bloom.

I'd say it's G. excelsa, but you'll have to wait for flowers. Look at Geoff's (lzddr) posting with his magnificent beast on the Gasteria thread on this page to compare - your plants are nice, too. An undergrown species in the collector's realm (I don't have one but certainly am on the lookout for it).

You def. cannot have too many, one leaf can make dozens of pups, hundreds maybe if you rerooted it. Quite thye gems of my collection.
Im actually a little worried about it, several of my succulent lillies have some infection, I have been treating it like a fungus, im not sure tho. It doesnt seem to affect the plants really, the clean ones are often out grown by the spotty ones. Theres a good bit of it on my sans. cylindrica too im having trouble gettin good pics. any suggestions would be great, im planning a post in the clinic once i have all my pics of infected plants in order. Its very dishearting to get something that attacks some of my favs, i had big plans of rebuilding my hawarthias and aloes soon, all my succulent lilies really, they are all so wonderful. I wasnt aware anything really bothers them, or sans... i fear its botrytis but really hope its not. im no where near ready to off the sick mother yet, but i sure cant put other plants at risk much more
What should i do?

Even in San Diego it was common to see that black spotting / mottling when the plants weren't getting enough sun and too much water with the cool temps (my guess only). It's not fatal, it's just sometimes terribly unattractive.

G. excelsa is notable for something else other than its size - it doesn't seem to offset. Drat and double drat.

Oh, okay, I didn't think it offsets; thanks for that confirmation, Jeff. Yeah, that's a drat. I've thought it's one of the more uncommon Gasteria. I've never thought I'll run into one, and if I were to, I imagine the cost would be $$$$$.

cactusmcharris, thats bit of a relief to hear, only a bit tho. I still am quite convinced its an infection of some sort, like i said, it looks to have spread to other plants, and some of the larger gasteria have no sign of it. :/

Im contemplating removing all signs of it, i dont think that will help much unless im actively treating it. the fungicide treatment i had been giving it was holding it at bay all summer but im not treating now, it seems to be on the grow again, its hard to tell.
Like you said, not fatal, maybe not even detrimental at all, but terribly ugly and if its harboring disease that does harm other plants, well thats unacceptable!

It does seem to be lacking in the offset dept. It more than makes up for it with its ability to produce pups from rooted leaves, they root every time, and quick, it usually takes a few months or a year to see babies but when u do its alot of em! I have em comin out my ears... I would LOVE to share them(and get more types of gast. too) but until im sure its healthy, i doubt i will. I hate givin people a cold...much less botrytis!
I think you mentioned one being grown near you, they have pretty brittle leaves, especially after a rain, you might keep an eye out for a leaf knocked on the ground, or just ask to buy one. Or you can just wait til mine are all better and trade me some of your wonderful little green tongues...

The one place I've seen one is at a local nursery, so it's inside the greenhouse and nicely kept. Not many opportunities for a leaf to come loose, and no rain, and I inquired once; the grower isn't interested in growing that particular plant to sell. I would love to share with you once I've gotten some larger pups going. I do appreciate your concern about not spreading a disease to someone else's plants.
