That is the pits! I feel for you. Stay off it for a while and ,hopefully, recovery will be speedy!

OUCH! I feel for you, keep icing it when you get the chance. I twisted my ankle several years ago, it still swells up a bit at the end of the day. I found an elastic ankle brace helped me a lot, especially while working in the garden. Hope your ankle is not TOO painful and it heals quickly.

Thanks for the sympathy. Over the years, I've sprained this same ankle quite a few times. Kathy - there's only me and three dogs and a cat at my house. If only I could train them to do those things for me!

I've kept off the ankle all afternoon and took a couple of Bayer Back and Body, since that's all I have right now, and it has helped some. The whole foot starts to get stiff if I don't get up and try to walk every so often.

I had wanted to plant four more small arborvitae today because rain is expected overnight; but........

You poor dear! Elevate you leg and keep your ankle iced. Sorry to tell you but ... it's going to hurt even worse tomorrow.

I elevated it some this afternoon, but it seemed to hurt worse that way. Then I remembered that the basketball players don't always do that because they want the blood to flow to the area. Me thinks I'll have to sleep sitting up in the chair tonight.

Yeah, I probably should have continued with the ice packs longer. It would be nice to have the kind you can wrap around the foot. I always keep a reusable ice pak in the freezer and alot of good it's doing in there.

I'll be fine in a week or so.

Have you gotten medical attention to get it wrapped up? Sprains really need treating. I sprained my ankle once (chasing a lost goat in the dark and fell into a 5 foot deep hole). I thought I could walk it off, too. I was wearing my leather riding boots at the time of the sprain, or it would have been worse. I went to the ER the next day and nearly fainted when the doctor examined it... he said sprains really, really need to be wrapped. So -- go get wrapped and get some crutches, please?

I wasn't expecting this at all this morning, but my foot doesn't hurt very much. The ankle is still puffed up, but no aching; and I can limp around as long as I don't step down hard on that foot. Sore to the touch tho like Cameron's was. Last night before bed I took two Tylenol PM and slept in the chair with my feet up on the ottoman. Slept pretty darn good, too, didn't wake up until 8:30am!

I will stay off of it as much as possible today. Afterall, I don't have much choice as it's raining cats and dogs here.

If you have an Ace bandage, wrap it. Start with your foot, wrap it around in crisscross fashion, so that it supports your arch, and continue around and around and up your ankle.

Ice at first injury, then apply heat to improve circulation.

I never have wrapped my sprained ankles in the past, but I do have an ace bandage somewhere. You know, I did wear some cotton slipper socks to bed, the kind that come up to the calf of your leg. Maybe that's why my foot felt better this morning because of the tighter sock on it overnight.

It's much improved but still sore. Plan on sleeping in the chair again on this cold, rainy and windy night. Brrrr.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. I've got a weak right ankle myself and have sprained it a few times. Never right after that either and easy to sprain again.

How's the ankle going? I broke and sprained my in two places a few years ago in fall - when I really needed to be working in the garden (and on the job!!). Be very careful with it and if you can, see if you can get some therapy. I was denied therapy for mine, and have constant pain and problems with it!

Thanks for thinking of me. My ankle is 90%. I'm even walking on it with only a slight limp now, and the only pain I get is when I try to turn my foot too far to the left and a little smarting now and then.Remains swollen, though. I'm terrible about staying off of it to let it heal more, because I just can't sit around not doing anything! Must be careful while walking over bumpy terrain and such, as I feel it would turn again if it got the chance the bugger.

Oh, I think a broken ankle would be soooo painful. I don't even want to think about that.

Be careful Schoolhouse! The doctor I saw said that the feeling an ankle will turn again is a sign of ligament damage. Try keeping that wrapped!
Broken ankle didn't hurt near as much as torn ligaments and the sprains! I just cracked up the top of my foot - the weird thing is, you can still see all the marks from the little "accident" - my ankle looks like the permanently bungled mess it is!! Most ligament pain now is on the curving arch - inside of my foot. Be careful with that. I am thinking arch supports might help. If you have very high arches, this can be a real pain to heal!

Schoolhouse - meant to send this earlier - use duct tape or masking tape to keep the ice pack in place!!! Heat bad. I have done this crap!@!!

The swelling is down some but it's sore to the touch right above the ankle and right below it. Why didn't I think of duct tape? I use that stuff for everything! I will remember to do that next time (yikes).

I have to plant four more arborvitae tomorrow before we get another day of rain on Friday, and I'll be sure to be careful. The tops of my work boots go above the ankle plus a little higher, so that will help keep it snug I think.

SchoolHouse, Just checking in to see how you're doing. It's been a week now and I wanted to make sure you haven't over done it with your shrub planting yesterday. It's so hard to be down when there is so much you need and want to get done isn't it?!! I deal with that daily and it is a struggle. Ach!

Oh, the ankle is MUCH better. I am able to walk pretty good as long as I don't have to walk far, then I limp a little. It's still very sore,and I have to make sure I don't twist it the wrong way. When I sleep, I tend to toss and turn, well with the sore ankle I have to be careful and not lay on my left side. Ouch.

To tell you the truth, I'm surprised it's as well as it is already. Thank goodness!
