Poor Man's Fertilzer - SNOW!

Annie

The old timers used to say that 'Snow is the Poor Man's Ferilizer.'

True or False?

True!

As moisture freezes and falls, turning into snow, it collects (attracts) nitrogen molecules. Nitrogen, as we all know, will cause things to green up fast.

We drove over to the next hamlet to the little convenience store a bit ago to get some goodies for the upcoming OU basketball game coming on here in a little while, and saw the effects of all that snow - the grass is already turning green! Wow!

The sun is out and it is warm and perfect weather. I have the windows open and the doors flung aside - no furnace needed.

All the snow has melted away and the grass everywhere is already changing to green. What miracles we find in Nature!

No permanent damage to my gardens whatsoever. Taller plants got smushed down a bit, but they will pop back up. Even my Bleeding Hearts are okay. That is amazing!

Yup! Snow is the poor man's fertilizer.

Happy Me!
